Helllo everyone,

I''m hoping some of you experts can clarify some cushion cut questions... I''ve been reading a lot of different things about the supposed depth range that''s acceptable for a cushion. Is it true that a cushion that is cut too shallow may not have the sparkle and brilliance of one that is cut a bit more deep? And, obviously, a cushion that is cut too deep wastes a lot of the stone...

As I''ve posted before, my BF just purchased a H&A cusion cut for my e-ring. It''s 3.15 carats. It''s stunning. The dimensions are 8.09 x 8.13 x 6.02. It''s depth is 74%... which I know is high.

I''m just wondering if anyone knows the acceptable range...

Most of the H&A square cushions at goodoldold have depths in the low 70s. Ours is 63 and looks great. At 2.83 carats our length and width is 8.6x8.25 but depth is like 5.22. If it is a true H&A I wouldn''t worry.

g-man... Thanks for the info! Is your cushion H&A? I''m wondering if that makes a difference in the depth.

if it''s stunning . . . don''t worry!

it''s next to impossible to find a good cushion -- if you''ve done it, that''s awesome; i wouldn''t sweat the depth. have you posted pics?

reena,

First of all I have to say, I absolutely LOVE your ring! I saw it in one of my first cushion cut searches on this board.

I will definitely be posting pics as soon as I get my ring! I am waiting for it to be set, which feels like an eternity already... probably 3 more weeks. I think most of the jewelry industry is on vacation for the next two weeks
