I am overall a very lucky person (so far), I know. I went on an amazing pearl acquisition odyssey this year and now have some absolutely lovely pieces that will last me for, I hope, the rest of my life.
My next goal is the Buccellati opera tulle MOP bracelet. But..
(Why does there always have to be a but?)
We're redoing the kitchen - I've never done this, and I knew it would be expensive. New flooring, x$, yup. New cabinets, y$, gulp, yup. Countertops, z$, yup. Sink, refrigerator, stove, range hood. Yes, I know.
What I hadn't done was add x+y+z. Too painful, but it had to be done sometime. The sum equals decades on ban island. Our kitchen dates mostly from the seventies - the refrigerator is over 30 years old, the stove nearly 40. And they aren't in good shape. The floor actually is duct taped from a flood that caused the vinyl flooring to separate and curl. So, redoing the kitchen isn't just some vanity project - a lot of this really needs doing. True, we went with materials and design we loved, which increases the price tag. But we also lived with our shabby 70s Formica countertops - accessorized by matching 70s Formica backsplash! - for eleven years. It's time.
But our lovely kitchen does not leave budget room for Buccellati. Meanwhile (why is there always a meanwhile?) the OTHER bracelet I wanted, which wasn't available before, is available now. At a fraction of the cost of the Buccellati. That bracelet I could get. But then the Buccellati is kicked even farther down the road.
How do you deal with delayed gratification? And FOMO - what if they discontinue the opera tulle line? What do you do to help your brain conquer this?
