Hello!!
I am in the market for a 5 stone diamond ring..... I LOVE them! And I have been really enjoying everyone's pictures of their gorgeous rings- I am so happy to have found this site!!
So I've narrowed it down to Brian Gavin Diamonds is the vendor that I am wanting to go with. Their product looks gorgeous and from everything I have researched they are very reputable and have spectacular diamonds.
My questions:
1. I have options to buy Color "F" diamonds VS2 or color G Diamonds SI1-VS2. I will be saving about 480$.
2. Im thinking I would like a graduated look perhaps : 0.60 center with 0.40 the rest of the stones or do 0.60, 0.4 then 0.3 diamonds
I wear a size 4.75. Or I want all same size stones maybe 0.4 or 0.5 but no bigger if all the same size
3. Should I get 18K WG or platinum. I'm looking at the Trellis II design (gorgeous) or should I do 18K YG with platinum head or do all one color? Im leaning towards all 18K WG or platinum. the platinum will run me a little more but Im thinking it might be worth it.
4. As I said above I wear a size 4.75 currently- I measured a 4.5 but I liked the feel of my current 4.75 rings. Should I go up to a size 5 on a 5 stone or would it be too big? I want to look proportionate and with no overhang if possible. and I like the size of stones I've picked so far....
Now the real dilemma:
I have my grandmas ring: its a 18k WG wedding set (soldered together) the solitaire is a transitional round cut diamond Color "N" VS2 its super pretty and I love it - mainly sentimental reasons but overall its really sparkly and beautiful. It has a small 5 stone channel set diamond wedding band with it.
I'm trying to decide what to do with the ring. I have my own wedding band set that I love and I don't think that I will wear hers.
I was thinking of taking the diamond and getting it set into a bracelet maybe a bezel set. And the wedding channel set ring I would just keep since the diamonds are very small and Im not sure I could do anything with them - I had thought maybe putting them into earrings for my daughter but I'd need to find another diamond and their tctw is 0.05 so not sure it's worth it.
And I'm struggling with the sentimental factor over the whole ring, and what to do with it, if anything. I hate for it to just sit in a box like it has for the past 2 years- but...
I even thought of putting it (the solitaire ) into my new 5 stone but I am very picky about color and I don't want to try to match the color of the diamond and the cut is a transitional instead of RB so.....
