Hi everyone. So we're upgrading to 1.5 carats! Yay! But I'm having trouble between two stones. Let me tell you about each of them:
Both GIA certified.

Color: J
Clarity: VS1 (Inclusions are a feather, cloud, and a natural)
Cut Grade: Excellent (Ideal) GIA
Depth: 60.9
Table: 60
Dimensions: 7.34 x 7.36 x 4.48
Girdle: STK, 4.5%
Flourescence: None
Culet: None
Polish/Symm: Ex/Ex
Star: 50
Pavilion Angle: 41
Crown Angle 33.5
HCA: 1.8 - Ex

^^^ $300 cheaper

The other stone:

Color: J
Clarity: VVS2 (Inclusions are mostly indented naturals and pinpoints)
Cut Grade: Excellent (Ideal) GIA
Depth: 61.9
Table: 58
Dimensions: 7.29 x 7.35 x 4.53
Girdle: Medium-STK
Flourescence: None
Culet: None
Polish/Symm: EX/VG
Star: 50
Pavilion Angle: 41
Crown Angle: 34.5
HCA: 2.0 - VG

$300 isn't much, and I feel like from what I've read, the VS1 doesn't actually have desirable angles? Maybe I'm wrong - I'm NO expert!!!

What are your thoughts?

I'd keep looking because both of those face up a little smaller than they could at least partly due to slightly thick girdles. I want to see 7.4mm or very close to it in a 1.5 ct. stone.

The first one has a 60 table, and I personally don't think that is as attractive as one with a smaller table 54-58% because a larger table means a smaller crown.

The second one is even smaller in diameter than the first, plus I wouldn't want to pay for VVS when I could get a totally clean VS1 or even VS2 stone.

The angles are okay in both. Do you have magnified images of them or idealscope images? I'd keep looking, though, if it was me.

What is your budget for the diamond?

(I am seeing a lot of 1.5's in the 7.3+ range, so just try to stay in the upper end of 7.35-7.4 if you can.)

Somewhere between 8.5 and 9.5k... It may not be the best diamond, but I plan on upgrading to 2 at some point when we're filthy rich? lol

Are you trading in a diamond with your original jeweler?

Nope, we're not. Keeping it for sentimental value.
