Well I've decided to go with a Cushion stone simply because I like the shape and it is a rarer stone than what you will typically see on a girls hand walking down the street. I'm a little torn between getting a simple solitaire setting or going with a more elaborate one that has mcro pave diamonds surrounded the center stone and going down the band.

Here is one example of a simple solitare one that I like, it has four prongs but I really like the way the four prongs are connected by a strip of platinum that hugs the stone so I'd love it if someone could find me something similar to this.

Can you guys post up some examples of settings that you think are really nice for a cushion cut stone along with a price?

Just for reference I will be going with a stone larger than 1.5 carats.

Thanks

Congratulations on selecting a shape...a cushion is a lovely!

I do really like the solitare setting you''ve included in your post! It is really simple, but completely elegant. But, the alternative of the diamond encrusted ring sounds very appealing also! So, before I can offer an opinion, I''d need to know what kind of FW you have?

Does she enjoy luxury? Drive an expensive car? Does she believe "less is more"? What type of rings do her friends/coworkers/family wear? Is she drawn to a particular type of jewelry more than any other type? Is she extroverted, or introverted?

Once we know more about her, it''ll be easier to help you move forward!

Well as far as her style she enjoys a very dainty ring on her hand. I have taken her around to look at rings and she loves solitaire. Likewise, she loves the mico pave look of certain rings that surround the center stone as long it isn''t too built up. Meaning that it doen''t dtract from the center stone.

She likes simple things to be perfectly honest, but her family is very wealthy and I''d like to get her something that looks really unique.

I'd set it in a Ritani Endless Love no halo like silverlily's ring:

How big is the center stone on that ring?

Ohhh...I love that idea. mrssalvo!!! The Ritani is one of my fave settings ever!

MP- I believe Silverlily''s cushion is 3 cts.

I do like that ring, but I know she doesn''t like eternity bands. Too much hassle to re-size and adjust. How about some micor pave. I like one''s that have a very thin band of micro pave diamonds around the center stone.

Like this Leon?

I Love this halo look. Leon makes me drool...

I personally might prefer the halo diamonds just a tad smaller...like in my avator.

Ohh MissRocks..love the Leon.
MP - You could do something like this Michael B also (except with a Cushion of course)

Oops..let''s try again. You could have the rings (whatever you choose) stop 50 or 70% down so it''s not an eternity ring...

Another Halo option by M.B.

Those look nice but Micheal B is way over priced in my opinion. 7k just for a setting is a bit over kill.

I agree, MP is very high in price but the beauty IRL is unmistakeable. I totally understand, I want a MB but it''s not in bf''s budget. If you like the look, custom work by one of the online vendors is always an option. It won''t be exact but could be very close..
Do you have any pics of what you have in mind?

Ritani can make it 3/4 pave so it wouldn''t be full eternity. also, butterfly just had ritani size down a ring she bought second hand from an 8.5 to a 5.25 and it looks perfect. so they are one company that I would strongly recommend buying a pave setting from. the pave is also set slightly lower in their settings making them much less likely to have stones that pop out.

MB is very high priced, but you''re also talking about the difference between a ring that is handmade verses one that is cast. He''s out of most peoples budgets though but the quality is worth the pricetag if it''s doable. Leon Mege does amazing work as well and tends to run about half the price as the MB for a wonderful quality handmade piece as well. But he''s not cheap either

Yes, I love MB's work. (I wouldn't say he is ridiculous, but he definietly is one of the priciest handpave' out there) MB is hand pave', Leon is as well, as is my custom ring. Handmade will always be more pricey, but the difference is unmistakable, as Angel said. Also, I have seen a couple threads on here with whiteflash custom "fishtail" pave. Mine is custom handmade "fishtail" too.

Here's a coupe threads on handmade vs. cast pave'

I really like the Ritini Endless love. I think it meets both of your requirements perfectly...it is simple, but it also has the bit of flash.

The endless love is very nice I must admit. Is there different types of crowns that you can get with it or is it just a standard setting? I keep hearing people refer to them with a halo or without a halo.

Ritani has a whole Endless love line..here''s a picture of butterfly''s new sappire endless love with the halo.

I like the halo of yours, but I know she wants the ring to be a perfect circle. Is there a type of endless love ritani with both the halo and the crown of the one picture earlier in this thread?

not that i know of. a halo setting and a basket setting (like the first picture I posted) are made differently. you can find settings with diamonds that are on the sides of the halo and not just the top though. Does your gal like halo''s? i only ask b/c some gals really like them, others wouldn''t want them for an e-ring. personally, I still vote for the first ritani, no halo. it''s just more classic with a nice little twist without being over the top or trendy. halo''s are very popular right now. if she loves them and one''s one go for it, but if your not sure and want to do the surpise thing, i''d go with the more classic IMO, no halo one, or something similar..
