12 years of reading his posts has proven to me that Karl is also a wonderful person, a better person than I'll ever be.
Frankly, I admire him for speaking up like he has lately.
It says he's a man of principles, rather than a servant of money.

It just doesn't seem like the smartest thing to do when an overwhelming majority of the people on this site feel the exact opposite, Then add the fact that you are trying to make your living selling items these same people may be interested in purchasing. If I were trying to make ends meet in a notoriously fickle luxury goods business I wouldn't be conducting myself that way, but I'm not a tradesperson. Karl no longer has anything to prove here on a professional level, so I'm sure he's not wringing his hands with worry over it.

DF, these acts are repeatedly committed by different ethnicities and races (mostly men but I'll leave that alone.) What Matata was calling you out on was your insistence in another thread that no one with the last name "Lee" or "Smith" or whatever, would be a shooter or terrorist or commit one of these acts.

Obviously ISIS exists and there are some bad apples in every barrel. What do you want this country to turn into? The kind of country that sends its Chinese population to internment camps in California? I mean, really? WTF? If you and your family were brown-skinned Muslims, would you be ok with this travel ban stuff and this profiling? Would you really just sit there and go "Oh, well, most terrorists obviously look like us, so we deserve this" and go along with the POTUS banning you from visiting the US, being called terrorists, and looked at as the enemy?

I see both sides of this issue. But I never feel like conservatives do. I feel like conservatives tsk tsk at liberals and think we just haven't experienced things or don't understand "how it really is." I don't think that could be farther from the truth. I think liberals absolutely understand how things are and still have enough hope in humanity that they're willing to try to change things. It's fortunate for everyone in the world that some of us do try to effect change. Else we'd (the U.S.) throw all the brown Muslim people into camps until we stomped out all the ISIS cells, right? Because isn't that what your goal is? To get rid of all the "bad" people who disagree with you?

Yes Anna you are right. It seems one of the Congressmen had his own security team also. I can easily say and admit that the rhetoric on BOTH sides of the aisle is tooooo loud, mean and hateful. We need to stop. This 'guy' who shot up the park (near my SIL's btw, they heard the noise etc and saw a dog running away from he park ((they are dog people)))

This was a guy who was angry about all he thought he wasn't getting, rich paying less taxes, differences between the classes growing.. but he was mentally ill, angry, and evil. Many people are this way but don't kill. I'm not going to address the gun problem because to me, there is no use, as the gun lobby (one of the culprits) and the NRA (big big culprits) turn the rhetoric up way too loudly. And yes, Bernie has a bit of a cross to bear himself, he's too loud and strident at times. We just need to talk to each other not at each other.

Not sure why only Karl's remark is considered inappropriate. The thread began odd and went on from there.

Glad the two police officers were there. There would have been no protection if the majority whip weren't there with his guards. The field is in a neighborhood, and there were men, women and children all around. One of the congressmen had his little son with him.

No telling how many lives were saved by the brave officers.

I was proud to hear that the charity game will be played tomorrow. Sure it won't last, but it was nice to see the congress members united.
