I was reading on another thread about 3-stone erings paired with non-flush (non-curved) bands and the damamge the band causes to the diamond prongs. Is this something specific to 3-stone rings?

I''m thinking of buying a non-flush band for my ering, here: my ering

It''s not a 3-stone, but I''d like to hear your opinions on the prong safety.

Thanks!!

The issue is more about the way the small stones are set in the band.

If they are set with shared prongs then often the diamonds protude past the edges of the ring and saw their way thru the e-ring sides.

Solution - it is obvious - make the metal wider than the diamonds in the band

honestly, I think your ring would look beautiful with a pave band. the sides are metal so you wouldn''t have to worry about diamonds on a shared prong ring digging into the bands. you can also opt to do a 4 prong diamond band like mara..her rings, as far as I know, do eat away at each other either.

My solitare is a 6 prong and the bottom prong touching my wedding band was scratching ip up completely. My e-ring setting isn''t my permanent setting but I didn''t want to keep eating my wedding band up until I decided on a setting, so I had my two rings soldered together and love it! No more scratches or dings and my half-eternity doesn''t spin. I have a plain wedding band so wear as a stand alone ring when I''m not wearing my wedding set.

When I had a 3 stone ring, the prongs did rub into my wedding and and I eventually had to solder them together as well. I know a lot of people don''t like to do that, but I really like it!

I had to have mine soldered together as well due to damage. The constant rubbing together was marking up the e-ring and caused several stones to get loose. I took the advice of my jeweler and soldered them together. I didn't think I'd like it, but I actually do. No more fidgeting with them when they don't line up. There always perfect-LOL.

I do have a three stone, but I wear it with a plain band so I do not notice any problems as of yet

Would a channel set band work as well? I would imagine so, just curious for other opinions....especially since I''m considering a 3 stone.
