I've been researching on PriceScope and have found that many people say that a well cut diamond will look larger than a bigger stone that is poorly cut. I am looking at WhiteFlash and have been looking at two options.

Option #1: "WhiteFlash ACA"
1.033 Ct
G
VS1
Ideal Cut
Cost: $6,440

Option #2: "WhiteFlash Virtual Selection (Normal Cut)"
1.20 Ct
G
VS1
Cost: $6,433

If price and all else is equal, would you go with diamond #1 that has the, "A Cut Above" ideal cut or would you go with diamond #2 that is a normal cut and .20 carat heavier? And why?

No way to judge the cut performance of the virtual stone from the information provided.

The ACA looks good.

yep sorry, can't tell anything from the virtual stone. If Round, then you can predict but not on fancy cut.

Looking at the mm's, they are nearly the same size, even though one is .2 ct heavier.

So I would go with the better cut

the second diamond looks pretty, ask them to do an evaluation and you will have better comparison!

That is a stock image, not a real image of the stone in question. Every princess in the virtual selection will have the same image.

it sure looked pretty, a heck of a stock pic...lol
then my advice to have it evaluated still reasonable...right?

No idea what the second stone looks like, but I'm wondering - I know the ACA is eligible for upgrade if you decide to get a larger diamond later, but is the virtual selection one? If not, then it might be worth giving up the 0.20 ct. now and upgrading to a larger stone using the ACA later....

Reasonable, but will involve a cost, if WF says it is good and OP decides not to get it. Also the upgrade policy, mentioned by BEG. So depends on the OP, it is a risk, usually not worth it if something is already available.

I'd go with the ACA. You don't know anything about the cut quality of the virtual stone and the cut quality is what will make the diamond sparkle

Wouldn't there evaluation include real picture and rest of the testing from IS to ASET? or they will say just good,VG...etc!?

based on the rate of inflation what you can afford now you may not later! something to consider.

ya, they would. But if it is passable ASET image, not super leaky/green, not sure what their criteria is, you are essentially stuck with the call in cost.

To me, it would depend on your ideal size preference, and whether you wanted to upgrade later!

If you want the larger diamond and upgrading is not an issue, then it is worth asking WF to help you comb the virtual lists for a winning stone. It may not be *that* one, since you really have no information about it, but you could find another.

James Allen is also a good vendor for hunting out deals, in my opinion, and they have images of the diamonds so it is a little more user friendly for the consumer.
