Hey all, it''s been awhile since I''ve dropped by, and need some advice...
I have a K .93ct SI2 pear engagement solitare that will need a new setting very soon (the shank is getting thin) and I wanted to do some custom work for a new semi mount. The stone and setting were purchased by my husband at a B/M store in Cleveland, but I don''t trust the jeweler as I think he overrated the pear''s quality and charged a king''s ransom for it. I''d like to not give him more business, but there is a lifetime warranty on the stone and setting, plus a trade up policy. I could have the work done there.
I also have a channel set band, about .50ct, of 13 well cut SI2 G-H diamonds that I bought from Ashcroft & Oak (same family as Rogers & Holland) that could be upgraded as a new semi-mount for my pear at Ashcroft & Oak. They, too, have the lifetime warranty and trade up policies. There''s a lady working there who seems diamond knowedgable and an honest dealer, but she''s the only one and they turn over fast in the business.
I''m open to suggestions for someone to do custom work, stripping the channel set diamonds out of the band and incorporating those into a new setting for the pear. I''m even scoping out some new, additional diamonds to maybe make a three stone ring with accents. Recommendations for Mom & Pop jewelers would be welcome as to who to give my business to. Travel isn''t out of the question... I live in Cleveland, so Ohio and Penna are areas I travel frequently. I''ve even been as far as Philadelphia to visit Dave Atlas (hi Dave!) to have my diamonds appraised.
Whew! If you''ve read this far, thanks for your interest in my dilema.
