Hello everybody,

I've been lurking here for a while, learned a lot and now a have a few questions for you all.

I've gathered that my girlfriend is interested in either a 7-stone ring or 3/4 band as her engagement ring, 0.5 to 1.5 tcw.

With this useful information I started looking around for settings and I found one that I really like. I've attached an image of the setting. it's for a full band and much bigger diamonds, but I would like to have that type of setting custom made for my ring.

I've found the setting while I was in Italy for vacation, so I was wondering who you would suggest to make me something similar. Either an online vendor or a brick and mortar store in Virginia.

Also any comments that you might have are greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your help!

what is your budget for the ring? a ring with diamonds going all the way around like that will be $$ and cannot be sized.

Here is a similar ring made by Whiteflash, except it is a u-prong style rather than a trellis.

I am sure they could make a trellis style. Many PSers have also gotten 5-stone trellis bands from Brian Gavin Diamonds, and they do custom work so they could make you a 7-stone band. A poster here just had them make her a 5-stone graduated trellis, you can see her thread here (pics on page 4)

Yes the ring shown is some major $$$. My I idea is to do either a 7 stone ring or 3/4 band in the range of .5-1.5 tcw. Budget is $2-3K, could do more if needed. Is it going to work?

She had tried the Tiffany 8 pointer 7 stone ring and wanted something similar.

So I had been looking for a setting as I didn't particularly like the Tiffany one.

The rings that you posted are really nice, but it seems to me that both the WF and BGD are a little more bulkier than the one a posted. Do you think that they would be able to do something "thinner" as the one I posted?

Thank you very much for your feedback

Here's one that WF did some years ago     and not too bulky at all!

I honestly have no idea if the setting would be doable w/ 2-3k though - my instinct is a definitive Yes, but with metal prices the way they are I really have no idea!

is 2-3k the budget for the setting or the setting and diamonds?

Ideally both, I was thinking at 1.5-2K for a white gold setting and 1-1.5K for the stones. Would this work?

Yssie,

Very nice indeed and no bulky feeling at all. It seems that the major difference is that the prongs in one that I posted seemed to be somewhat "flattened".

Is there anyone in particular that you would suggest I contact at WF?

Thank you!

since you are looking at 0.5-1.5 tcw I think it would work...the ring you posted uses much larger diamonds! for example, this setting from BGD is 1550 in 18k, so perhaps a little more for a 7-stone.

Ah - I misread/misunderstood. I really like the one slg marked - and by going pre-made you avoid both the extra custom fees and the uncertainty of not knowing what you're going to wind up with, and tons of people like the flowy trellis look so you have lots of options! BGD and WF are good places to look :sun: BGD has a blog with pieces that don't always make it to the website, you might look through that too

I see what you mean about "flattened" wires - you could always ask the vendor about that if you particularly like it!

I work with Sheerah at WF and she's great, you'll be fine talking to anyone though.

Edit*

CZ ~ just for reference, I can't speak for the WF setting but the BGD one looks a lot bulkier in the photos than it is IRL. I was actually surprised at how unsubstantial the setting really is. I was expecting it to be a lot bulkier. My setting was a little more than your budget but it was in platinum, so the white gold cost should be right in your budget. Good luck! Your ring is going to be beautiful. :))

Thank you all for your input, I have a lot of info to digest. I'm sure I'll post again with more questions ;)
