Hello All!

I inherited my grandmothers wedding set and now I am looking to do a reset. Its been a couple of years and I feel that Im ready to do something with her set instead of having it sit in my jewelry box. Im thinking I'd like to incorporate my children's birthstones into the design some how (Citrine and diamonds) but Im not set on that design idea either. I also am loving rose gold right now.

I have checked with local jewelers and feel that I would like to reach out to designers that I have seen listed on Pricescope.

Some that I have really liked their work thus far:
1. Victor Canera
2. Diamonds by Lauren
3. Brian Gavin

Please input anyone that you would recommend that I should reach out to for a custom/special project!
thank you and look forward to some advice!

How exciting! A few questions...

What shape is the stone?
How big is the stone?
Is this for a RHR or ?
What type of designs do you like? Halo? Vintage? Art deco?
Oh, and budget because that will determine who to recommend.

Well, that should get us started!

Hello! Thank you for the reply and I should have put that info in first- still newbie here lol

What shape is the stone? Stone is Round : been told its a transitional or an old mine cut- 2 different jewelers- 2 different opinions :-/ the general consensus is its old lol not modern round brilliant.

How big is the stone? the solitaire is 1.28ctw "N" color VS2 and then the wedding band has 5 small round diamonds 0.05 ctw "I" color

Is this for a RHR or ? Yes I'd like it to be a RHR since I have my own wedding set.

What type of designs do you like? Halo? Vintage? Art deco?: I like all of them and that's where Im getting stuck lol. I like halos and have been looking at vintage/antique styles since my grandma was born in the 1930s I like a Kite setting since those look vintage/antiquey to me but am also considering setting it into a band setting.

I'd also like to save the original settings: they are a Traub orange blossom 18K WG setting. I am looking to reset the main stone and will probably keep the wedding band intact.

Oh, and budget because that will determine who to recommend. I'd say 3k- 8k. Might go higher if needed but would rather keep in budget.

thank you again for any advice and thoughts!

Hello!

Thank you drk14 that ring is beautiful! there are components of it that I really like! So many different ideas!

I've also thought of a wider eternity type band but I really like the vintage look.

If you really like the "vintage" feel of the setting posted before you'll want to contact CVB through http://www.loveaffairdiamonds.com/

She is a miracle worker and excellent for custom and unusual work.

thank you so much for the link will check them out!
So excited to start my project!

Anyone have an opinion on Leon Mege? I like fine millegrain detail I think it would make the ring look more vintage- any thoughts on who does great millegrain?

How about Brian Gavin? How's their custom work?

Thanks!

Worked with Leon and Victor, but I would recommend Victor. Both make hand forged ring at a higher pricepoint. Both have great engravers. I personally prefer Victor's customer service.

David Klass is also a jeweller to consider. He does CAD/Cast work and he offers great quality for sharp pricing. His milgraining and engraving is really good.

Thanks Acinom! I will look into David as well. I'm just trying to formulate what I'm wanting. Still not sure what route I want to go. Just want something that will honor my grandma and at the same time be a wearable piece.

will add David Klass to the list of vendors to look into.

There are so many beautiful custom pieces that I'm seeing on here- hard to decide lol.

If anyone else has someone they really like let me know

Thanks!

CvB's bench does insane millegrain: :))

For more examples of CvB millegrain, see this SMTB thread:

As for DK, if I recall correctly, I believe he uses the same bench as Singlestone (in which case there should be no concern about his millegrain work) -- can anybody confirm or deny?

oh drk14 you are so right- gorgeous! thanks for the link too- beautiful ideas!
I think Im just going to take my time and see what I really want and see which vendor I match up with the best.
thank you!
