Hello All,

I was hoping I could get your opnions. I''ve been searching for a nice cushion, and I have my search down to two stones. Can any of the cushion experts here offer an opnion as to which is best? The specs point to the second one, but I''m certainly no expert and based on the photos on the website the 1st seems nice as well (though I know a simple photo comparison isn''t really reliable given differences in light conditions, etc):

H SI1 1.01ct

H VS2 1.01ct

Should I be asking for anything from the vendor, ie ideal-scope, etc? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome!

Yes, ASET images would be very useful if you can get them, ask JA if they can provide them, more info here. They can also advise you if either of these stones would be suitable for you.

Thanks - I''ll ask JA if they can provide that. I''ve been dealing with someone there through email, and she said bothe stones would be "beautiful" and face up white and eye clean. Given that I''m leaning toward the VS2 since it has a larger spread and better polish, but I''m curious why its only $200 more - I thought going from a SI1 to a VS2 would result in a larger price increase (especially when all other specs are similar or better)...

I''m no expert, but I''m also looking for a cushion so I''ve done a lot of reading...as the specs on these two stones are so similar, I would say that one of the main things to think about is whether your preference is for a square cushion or one that is more rectangular (you have ratios here of 1.03 and 1.13). Also, it appears that both diamonds have tables which are greater than their depth, and I''ve been told that it is best to have the opposite..but that''s the problem with cushions, it''s all about personal preference!! Good luck, they both really look like nice choices.

I ditto MidWestGirl... You kinda either like square of rectangular... What is it that you prefer? The larger table thing is throwing me off too. I like the numbers to be pretty close as far as table and depth.

I don''t mind that the second is lightly rectangular - I can''t really decide which I like more . I''m having them call in the diamonds to compare them side by side and see which has better optical qualities. They will also do an Ideal-scope (they don''t have the ASET viewer). So it seems people think the table is an issue? Do you think it will detract from the stone that much, or can cushions have larger table% and still look good?

Soprano87 has an example of a cushion with a similar facet pattern and a larger table (but hers is also a bit deeper): https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/thanks-pricescope-markt-cushion-leon-setting-quest-band.71222/

If Juliana at James Allen is looking at the stones for you, I would absolutely trust her to give you an honest opinion. They called in a stone for me and she didn''t hesitate to tell me that she was not feelin'' the luv for it. I really appreciated her frank and upfront response.
