Hi,
I've browsed the FAQ's / forums some over the last week and they've been immensely helpful. A ton of great advice for a guy like me, who literally knew nothing about diamonds prior to this past week (aside from needing to get one lol).
Based off the research I did and my girlfriends inclination for Harry Winston jewelry, I've opted to get a Harry Winston Micropave Cushion Cut inspired ring. A consequence of wanting preferably a nicer diamond and the lack of a HW location that I can reach before my preferred engagement time.
Based off the suggestions of others in the Pricescrope community I contacted a seller on here ERD and got a quote on both a setting ($3,200) which seems more then reasonable and a few diamonds.
I'm not particularly stuck to carat size, but one diamond that caught my eye:
http://www.engagementringsdirect.com/2.01-carat-g-vs2-a-cut-beyond-cushion-cut-diamond-gid-91511.html
At first glance it seems like a nice diamond and not terribly out of my price range. Using the price scope tool it seems like similar diamonds in that range are retailing for around $18k-$20k as well.
1) How does that diamond look to you guys? Any/all comments greatly appreciated.
2) Not sure if this is a faux pas, but from a retail standpoint how does that diamond's pricing compare to others in the pricescope community (not sure how much the depth/symmetry plays into things)?
3) Are the quotes for diamond prices in the Pricescope tool fairly accurate? It seems tough to get a handle on what an appropriate pricing range is.
I'm very interested in thoughts on the diamond's quality / suggestions. As much as it pains me to head uneducated into a sales process, as long as the diamond is nice, and the setting turns out well I'm sure I'll be happy
Thank you so much!
