Hello,

I am looking at two diamonds below.

1) 2.01 D VS1 1.05 L/W 61% table which I prefer on the cushions vs. the smaller tables:

My questions is with the ASET on stone 1 is I cant tell if all the white is light leakage or just a strange angle. I have never seen an ASET with a white dot in the center so I am having a hard time identifying if this is light leakage or not.

2) 1.90 D VVS2 1.05 L/W 62% table:

This ASET is shot under a different filter as well so hard to compare.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, the white is leakage.

What are the dimensions on the stones?

Stone 1)

7.51x7.13x4.88
61% table 68.4% depth

Stone 2)

7.33x6.96x4.86
62% table 69.8% depth

What do you think of the asets overall?

Thanks

I think #2 has a better ASET by a little bit.

I think the main issue might be setting expectations.

I just pulled the trigger on a cushion diamond after having looked at 35-40 stones at 7 different places in 3 weeks. I can tell you that very rarely will you find a cushion SOOO well cut that it wont have a bit of white of black in its ASET image. Additionally, be careful when looking at ASET images as some might be enhanced (contrast/saturation/brightness/etc).

Thanks for the input.

I guess I am trying to decide if both of these are good stones?
How do these compare to the ones you had looked at in your search?

Thanks.

The first one is an A- the second a solid A.

1) Ask the vendor to send a video of both in outdoor light, and then in office light. rocking them back and forth. phone vid is better than nothing here.
2) Ask the vendor which one they prefer.

If they have no preference go w/ the cheaper one or the bigger one, whichever will make you feel better.

Deciding a non-round solely based on ASET and percentage points at this stage in your buying process is silly. In real life, you don't look at an ASET you look at a diamond, and unfortunately (for non-rounds) once you move beyond the basic drop criteria for ASET, it's only informative to look at a diamond in motion in different types of light.
