Hi,

I really love the look of cushion brilliant diamonds. I have come across one that I think is really beautiful. I am looking for some more insight and opinions before making the purchase
photo__8_.jpg

GIA 2141793283
It is a 1.70 H IF cushion brilliant stone
Table is 56%
Dept is 60.6%

No flouresence or cutlet

thoughts? comments?

nice shape. do you need the IF clarity? you could drop in clarity and go for a larger stone, if that is of interest to you.

I would prefer to go up in color and not have such high clarity - but i've been told that it is a little bit harder to come across cushion brilliants. In my search ive just been coming across tons of modified cushions which I dont love the look of. The 1.70 stone does not look small on my finger - i have tiny hands.

I guess im just looking to be pointed in the right direction.

The picture isn't the best, but if you love it and it's what you want in terms of faceting AND you have seen it in person and spent time with it (at least a half hour but more than that IMO) and walked it around to different sources of light and see it perform. AND it has a good return (not exchange, full refund) policy. Sure, take a chance on it.

I know the picture isn't the best ... I did take it myself. Here is some more information, should I be worried about the girdle thickness on this stone?

Are there any red flags I should be aware of regarding the stone?

It is giving me a hard time uploading the GIA (2141793283)

1.70 H IF

8.16x6.97x4.22mm
Polish - Excellent
Symmetry - Very Good
Girdle - Slight Thick to Thick
Table - 56%
Depth - 60.6%

No, I wouldn't if you've been it in person and been happy with it.

It looks nice to me. If you like that facet pattern and the performance then i would get it. It faces up so large for 1.7c stone since the depth is only 60% which is OK if there is no windowing (light leakage). It has a nice small table. An H color will be white. Looks like a nice cushion brilliant.

Ok, so I had the dealer send me over a better picture than the one i had taken.

It seems that the stone has the bow tie effect ... The dealer told me that since the stone is rectangular that it will have a slight bow tie effect. Is this bad?

Bowtie would bug me. Do a search on here for "bowtie" (no quotes around that word). And not all elongated cushions have this.

I would not buy a cushion with the bow tie effect....I would keep looking. Couldn't see it from the first picture.

Honestly, I didn't notice it when I first went to look at the stone - I am going to have to go back and look at it again.
