I have six .17 carat diamonds and a 1.0 carat solitaire that I'd like to make a necklace with. I've been thinking of a layered/doubled look, with 4 of the smaller stones sitting fairly close to the base of the throat in bezel settings, maybe 1.2-1.5inches apart, and the solitaire set as a pendant on the second layer of chain with the last two smaller diamonds set somewhere complimentary to the other 4. Sort of a DBTY look with a pendant, but "fixed" because it would be attached, if you get my meaning.
I really like this idea, but I haven't ever seen it or heard of it's being done, and that makes me question whether it's a good idea. Thoughts? This would be an everyday necklace, and I don't want to separate ones because I prefer the cleaner/less tangled look of one chain at the back of the neck. I also love the layered look, ala Giada.
