Creating a DBTY and solitaire pendant in one-good idea?

I have six .17 carat diamonds and a 1.0 carat solitaire that I'd like to make a necklace with. I've been thinking of a layered/doubled look, with 4 of the smaller stones sitting fairly close to the base of the throat in bezel settings, maybe 1.2-1.5inches apart, and the solitaire set as a pendant on the second layer of chain with the last two smaller diamonds set somewhere complimentary to the other 4. Sort of a DBTY look with a pendant, but "fixed" because it would be attached, if you get my meaning.

I really like this idea, but I haven't ever seen it or heard of it's being done, and that makes me question whether it's a good idea. Thoughts? This would be an everyday necklace, and I don't want to separate ones because I prefer the cleaner/less tangled look of one chain at the back of the neck. I also love the layered look, ala Giada.

I think it could turn out really nice. Just because no one has made one doesn't mean it wouldn't look nice. Some of the members here have had some lovely custom pieces done. I am sure they give you recommendations on someone to work on this project with you.

I like the idea but would set three bezeled stones on either side of the larger stone. They are larger than would be typically found as accents on a pendant chain, though. I have a couple of pictures of Tiffany pendants that have small diamonds on the chain.
