Came across craigslist and someone posted a pic of a GIA cert.

Does GIA do split grades or is this not authentic?

I think split grades are only used when a stone is already set. But I didn''t think GIA grades set stones?!

On the Philadelphia Craigslist is a diamond with a scanned image of a GIA document. The GIA document is totally illegible. You just have to have serious doubts.

GIA does not split grades nor do they grade mounted diamonds.

Maybe an appraiser or a retailer who does appraising graded the diamond, but using GIA grading does not create a real GIA document. They are VERY different things.

GIA also doesn’t supply an estimated replacement value on any of their documents.
