could a center stone be taken off a bezel setting?

I am asking this because i saw people selling used bezel settings online. so i wonder what they did to the center stones? i heard that once a stone is bezel set it can't be taken off unless you destroy the stone. but i don;t believe people will do so. so how did they take the stones out?

I've ripped a number of stones out of bezels - provided it's done by a good vendor and not hiding chips or a damaged stone to begin with which some vendors do with diamonds then it should be fine. And if the stone is removed carefully the jeweller can reset another stone and rebuild the original bezel.

Yes, I believe that stones can be removed from bezels, but there is always risk of damage to the stone.
