When I had my JA diamond reset recently,they replated the old setting as a courtesy. I thought that was very nice since the new setting I bought was their beautiful but inexpensive wire twist.
But more recently I talked to another of our dear vendors about resetting a stone in a 3k+ setting and asked if they would please replate the old setting before sending it back. I expected them to say sure, but they said it would cost $100. Isn't replating a simple procedure that takes a few minutes? I'm happy to pay someone for replating, but this seemed a little expensive.
