After some help from you guys, my GF & I went & had a look at some G & F stones to compare colours today. The first stone is a G and the second is an F.

We are inclined to go for a G as it is better value. However, we noticed the G stone seems to reflect yellow light (see pic below). Would both stones do this or is it because the G colour is in the Nearly Colourless as opposed to Colourless range that it is more inclined to reflect yellow light?

I forgot to mention both are GIA stones

It wouldn't let me view the pictures, but it's very hard to see a difference between a single cut grade. Even under controlled conditions (special light, white background) many people can't see the difference or need to practice. It's possibly you are color sensitive and have a "high" F and a "low" G, but it's more likely that the stones are cut differently or were viewed under different conditions.

If you can post the grading certificates or a link to an actual stone, that would be more useful. Another thing I might recommend is that you and GF ask to see superideal stones in G and F--if you are shopping at local stores the easiest to find will be Hearts on Fire.

You have to directly post photos here. It is not allowed to post links to photo hosting sites, if that is what it is. It is extremely difficult to judge color of diamonds in photos because we don't know all the environmental color, lighting, etc.

But G color is very desirable for those who want a white stone without paying the premium for colorless. I would always choose G over a higher color. But cut is the most important thing. Stick with GIA Excellent cut and these parameters:

table 54-58
depth: 60-62.3
crown angle: 34-35
pavilion angle: 40.6-40.9 (41.0 can work with a 34 crown angle)

Sorry, I dont know! I thought I did post the photos here & I can see them, let me check.

You can't judge diamond color from pics any more than you can judge the character of a person from a pic of their facial expression.
There are a zillion things that affect the color each of us see on our screens.
A zillion.

That's what clarity grades from GIA or AGS are for.
