hi all,

Some of you may have seen my post about my new 9 stone half eternity which I love, but now I need opinions on wearing it with my E-ring.

Here’s the issue. My Ering is a 2 ct transitional K in platinum. I LOVE it, love the pattern, never ever had an issue with color because I loved the antique aspect of it. I inherited this from a grandmother.

But, now I just had the 9 stone made, also in platinum using 9 - 15 pointers F/G color, 1.36 cts from a ring that belonged to my husbands grandmother.

Now, the color difference is smacking me in the face. I’m attaching a picture. I don’t think it’s killing me, but it’s obvious. What do you all think? Maybe I should wear them on separate hands? Is this band even substantial enough to wear with just my wedding band(first picture). Please excuse puffy hand!

I can’t believe I didn’t consider this issue before building the band, and the jeweler told me it’s really not as noticeable as I think.

But you know. Once a chip is in paint, even if nobody else see’s it, you always see it. Also, my office lighting is grey, blah.

Thank you for your thoughts!!

i don't think it's an incredibly drastic difference but once you've seen it you can't unsee it. It's a beautiful ring, i would wear it by itself on the right hand.

Personally, I would ROCK IT and wait for people to comment so I could share with them the joy of the older lower color cut and then talk about the relative iciness of the modern cuts in the higher color melee goods.

Have fun with it!

I 100% agree!

The color difference doesnt bother me but then I dont concentrate on those things. I do feel like it is substantial to wear alone or with a solid
gold band.

It would drive me crazy. Not just the color difference but the cut difference. But that’s just me. My eyes are really good. But My opinion is irrelevant if it doesnt bother you. Now if you just want to know if others will be able to tell the difference, I highly doubt it. No one spends as much time as we do scrutinizing our rings so you are going to have to come to terms with how you feel about it. I think the 9 stone is vey substantial and can be worn alone or stacked with other plain bands.

Color is a very personal issue. If it continues to bother you, it could certainly be worn as a stand alone RHR. I do agree with Nala though - most folks don't scrutinize things like we do here. Make your decision to please yourself and don't worry about others. They will be not be worrying about it!

I suggest wearing them together a few days. I have a 7 stone diamond band (H color) that I wear with my L colored diamond and the first day I wore it I thought they didn't work together. After a couple of days I loved the combination.

The band is definitely substantial enough to wear with your wedding band. I can see the colour difference in the photo you posted, however most of us on this forum are very particular with these sorts of details in comparison to non PSer's who probably wouldn't even notice it.

They are both beautiful rings!! Only you can decide whether it bothers you enough to wear them on separate hands. It would bother me but that's just my honest opinion. As Lisa RN suggested I would wear them for a few days and see how you feel then, both rings have a lot of history and are very special.

Don't forget they will both look different in different lighting so maybe your office lighting is making it look worse than it actually is.

Let us know what you decide :-)

I love the top stack!
I would wear the 9 stone band, then your plain band then your e-ring.
I have an L transitional (it was a stone that belonged to my H’s grandmother) with H-I MRB side stones and then I have a vintage eternity band that I can’t remember the color range of- all set in platinum. Wear them all! 61984939-633F-4B15-A124-59A2F933ADA0.jpeg

Definitely rock it for a while & see how you feel. Can you post a pic of the new 9 stone, plain band in the middle, then solitaire ? I think that will work the best, as it just pushes a slight gap between the colour differences so 'you' won't notice it (nobody in real life would ever notice it, but if they do like @Wink says, you've got an educated conversation) and it will give a big, sparkly presence! Alternatively, the 9 stone on the RH will hold its own.

How about adding a thin third ring in between them like a blue sapphire or another gemstone stacking band. It might fool the eye. I agree most people would not notice it..It would bother me in the beginning but I would definitely wear it and know I would love it because of the personal history.

Hi! Thank you for your thoughts!! I think you’re right, the plain band(which is actually my wedding band,ie day of band) is sandwiched in between in both new pics.

Great idea! I’m going to look into this idea. Do you know where the best place to get gemstone bands is? Thanks so much for your advice!!

I would try Etsy..I bought a beautiful aquamarine band from Sarriel but there are many jewelers to look at. See my post on the stack of the day thread. My aquamarine band is on there..the last few posts.

Love the bottom picture - 9 stone, plain band, solitaire. But I might be biased as that's how I wear mine. I think it provides just enough break to separate the diamonds & distance the colour. But I like the idea of a gemstone band in there too! Have a look at Zina T on Etsy as she has some lovely, reasonably priced, good quality rings. There are quite a few PSers who have her bands.
