Does anyone have any tips or tricks to cleaning a stone set in a cup? The stone/setting in question is my profile picture. It has a yellow gold cup but with a hole in the bottom of the cup to let light in

Is that a yellow diamond? I soak my rings in Dawn dish detergent and use a waterpik (meant for teeth) to clean the underside of the stones!

The hole in the bottom of the cup is to allow for drainage when cleaning the ring, not for light. Light enters from the top of the diamond.

If your ring is really dirty, try soaking in a 50/50 solution of hot water (tap hot, not heated!) and white vinegar. Let soak for half an hour, rinse well and be sure to tap the ring on a paper towel held in your hand if you don't have a steamer. That should shake out the water under the diamond.
