Chunky tiny OMCs?

Picked up this ring today from a pawn shop, looks like it has a heap of teeny tiny OMC diamonds - given they are so chunky/wonky I was thinking they were quite early, what are everyone's thoughts on these?

This is my first OMC/OEC purchase, so any advice/feedback would be great.

No date, it looks like its a newer band (within the last 40ish years anyway) and has maybe used stones from previous pieces of jewellery

The stones appear to be OMC’s.
Likely dated back to the 1800’s. You should take the band to an expert, jeweler, or an appraiser who has experience with old cuts.
You May learn more than you expect.

Thank you :) I'll definitely be handing this one over to my jeweller, I bought it with the intention of using the stones for an antique style halo with either a garnet or a 1ct cushion teal spinel, so will be asking him to remove the stones so we can take a look at them properly :)

I'm not aware of anyone local here that specialises in old cuts (I'm in Adelaide, Australia), however my jeweller has a passion for art deco jewellery so it kinda comes with the territory a bit I guess!

Oh that's a great find! Those omc are beautiful. I should make a trip to Adelaide to scope out some jewels when restrictions ease in Melbourne.

Absolutely! I haven't found too many so far, but have only just started hunting to be fair. I found this one at Cash Converters - they have their jewellery online too so can browse through while on lockdown :) Was only $420 AUD so I figured even if the diamonds were rubbish then that should cover the price of the gold which I can reuse for future projects.

I had a good look at the diamonds tonight with the loupe and most seem relatively clean, only 2 that I can see have large visible inclusions (feather, brown carbon spot?) and one diamond seems to have 1/3 of it cleaved off, but apart from that they were looking pretty clear and in decent shape given the crowns sit up fairly high and it's a full eternity band so will be subject to hitting on things etc.
It's a teeny tiny band (I think a size J or K from memory) so that was part of the reason for the low price as it can't be resized and hence a limited market in that small size bracket.
