What's the best for durability against bending, moving prongs, losing stones etc.?

I have 2 kids. I don't want to have to take my rings off if we go to the park and are playing, or have to worry that I'm clapping too hard at a concert (that story scared me!)

What's harder? Platinum or 18k white gold?

I did a quick search but didn't really find a definitive answer! Just stuff about the finish lasting longer!

Err.. harder is not more durable. Pt is more durable as it is more ductile, but some PT alloys have less hardness than WG alloys.

PT generally is safer for prongs as the PT prongs are less likely to snap than WG prongs, less likelyhood of loosing the stone. More durable I would think it is more of a design consideration, if it is those flowery, with too many melee stones design, the build in weakness is there no matter what matter what metal you use compared to a simple, solid bezel ring of the same alloy.

My 2 cts from an engineer POV.
