Hi Everyone,

I've been presented with the choice between 3 pear shapes for custom engagement ring (Halo) and would appreciate some advice choosing between them.

2.25ct F Color VS1 Clarity Excellent Polish Excellent Symmetry - GIA 1249096576
2.37ct F Color VVS2 Clarity Excellent Polish Very Good Symmetry - GIA 6232206552
2.59ct F Color VS1 Clarity Excellent Polish Excellent Symmetry - GIA 6222068066

I am favouring the 2.59ct, despite being more expensive, just because of the phycological barrier of being over 2.5. However the 2.37ct is actual bigger in dimensions.

Any advice greatly appreciated! Thanks

I like the middle one. The twinkle is more balanced throughout the stone and it has less of a bow tie. I do like tha fatness of the third one but seems like it has a more pronounced bow tie. I am not a expert but my eyes kept going to the middle one.

Good luck and happy holidays. Keep us posted!!

I would chose the 2.37 also. I have a pear & I couldn't get past the bow tie in most that I saw when I was searching loose stones. I hunted until I found an excellent cut without one, and it makes a huge difference to the sparkle

Really love the 2.37ct pear - I much preferred its performance (lots of sparkle throughout the whole diamond) and its proportions are very pleasing... I look forward to hearing which one you decide on!

I prefer the first one...some large sparkles and some small sparkles.

I prefer a round brilliant type cut with 8 main (like a round brilliant). That is how your number 1 and 3 stones are cut.

Your number 2 stone (2.37) is probably a 4 main. It has a shallow depth at 55% (with the pro being it should face up bigger
for it's size...con...you need to make sure that it actually does sparkle.)

So if you check this stone out it is an 8 main.

Here is the GIA report for it...look at the faceting pattern. 8 pointed fingure on the bottom of the stone.

Here is a 4 main pear like I believe your number 2 pear is

The GIA report ...again, look at the faceting pattern. 4 pointed figure on the bottom of the stone.

Its been my experience that they tend to cut shallow pears with 4 mains. Regular depths get 8, 6 mains.
YOU need to decide which look you prefer. I can tell you what faceting pattern most people have bought on Pricescope but
I dont what to prejudice you.

The first looked best to me, then the second. NO to the third.

Best of luck in your search!
