I have narrowed down my choice to one of these three diamonds. Which would you pick? The 1.38 would put me at the top of my budget.

I would greatly appreciate some opinions on these stones

Do you have IS images for any of these?

Based on just the numbers I'd go with #3, but it's a close call - none of them look like doozies. You're debating between promising stones, so it's the nuances that'll make the deal - images are the best way to see them.

ETA: I'm assuming that the stones are all GIA graded (you were looking at JA, I believe, so the "ideal" cut is JA's grading?) so numbers could be slightly off due to rounding.

yap, IS will be the deciding factor.

These are all GIA, ad the ideal marking is JA''s. I''ve put the numbers into the HCA and I get 1.1, 1.3, and .9 respectively.

I''m a little wary about the price on number 3, although I think it is very nice. What makes it the winner for you guys given the very small differences in the HCA numbers?

Also is this stone worth considering?

Shape: Round
Carat weight: 1.49
Cut: Ideal
Color: J
Clarity: SI2
Certificate: GIA

Depth: 62.7%
Table: 55.0%
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Girdle: Medium to slightly thick
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 7.26*7.30*4.56
Crown Angle: 34.5
Pavilion Angle: 40.6

#3 numbers are nearer towards TIC cut so is a more balance cut.

If eye-clean and the IS image checks out.

So is it fair to say that the consensus is "these are all great stones, so if the IS images look good, you can't go wrong with any of them"? (acknowledging that stone three is probably the best, but only marginally)?

yap.

Thanks for the advice I''m having such a hard time deciding if i should spend the extra $1K

Gah...I need someone to just tell me what to do/make the decision for me..I can''t make it on my own. I just keep looking at these stones and searching for others.

Have you asked for idealscope images of these three? It would help with the decision.

The J diamond will not be noticably larger than the 1.38 H, but it will be noticably more tinted in some lighting environments. I prefer colorless diamonds so would get the H over the J.

OK, I thought about it some more. These are all nice diamonds from the numbers, and it all liklihood will look great in person, if there are small nuances is the different stones' performance they will most likely not be apparent to the eye unless you know diamonds *very* well.

So if you want to just choose I would pick stone C first because it will be noticably larger than the others and its angles are more traditional as Stone Cold mentioned; but if the extra 1k is too scary then I would pick stone B becuase its numbers place it within both AGS0 and GIA EX territory on the HCA.

ETA What are the grade making inclusions? They are listed in order of importance under the plot on the cert.

besides money this is one of my big concerns. Will it actually look that much bigger being .14 carats larger?

We can't answer this for you, but those IS images would help.

Will there be a visible size difference? Most definitely.

Will it be visible to you side to side? Most definitely. Will it be visible apart, to you? Probably. Will the person across the street notice? Probably not, because they couldn't care less.

Thanks. I know I have to be the one to make the decision. I''m just worried I''m getting caught up in a "bigger is better" mentality and I don''t want to be wasting money on overkill or size for size''s sake.

The more I think about this, the more I''m leaning toward stone A. is this crazy?

Post the IS image.

Post the IS image.

They are processing my request.

Then be patient and wait for the IS. No point getting work up and getting your heart set on one when more info will come soon.
