Wow, it's over $400 a month for my prescription through that site. :((
I hope my insurance company never stops covering it...$50 a month copay seems like a bargain!

I think it's for people without insurance, and there are zillions of them. ;(

Also . . . to save more money consider pill splitting.
If you take 10 mg a day why not buy the 20 mg pills (for nearly the same price) and split them?

But wait . . . http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/features/pill-splitting-when-is-it-safe-when-is-it-unsafe?page=1

Beware.
How much our insurance will pay for some of us is getting worse and worse.
I remember once when the pharmacy filled a Rx for me (I had insurance) and she told me my copay is more than if I bought the drug without my insurance.
I was astonished.
Now I always ask first before just paying my copay.

$50, ouch! I'm not exactly sure what my payment tiers are, but it seems that generics are $5 and brand names are either $10, $15, or $20 depending on what they are.

Same here. But the pharmacy must have figured it out, because I expected to pay my $10 copay and only paid $6 or something.

Yeah, the copay is high because there is no substitute and is a relatively new drug though I have been taking it for 6 years now.
I cannot split it as it is time released but that is a good suggestion Kenny. I actually do that with my ambien which I take occasionally only. I buy the 10 mg ambien and split it and only take 5 mg when needed. So that halves the cost.

The medication I am taking on a monthly basis actually has a savings card so for now I am only paying $25 a month to the pharmacy. The drug company reimburses them the other $25 per month. But honestly, I would still take this med even if it didn't have this savings card and when the savings card expires (December 2012 I think) if I still need to take the med and pay the full copay I will. I am just relieved I have insurance and can afford the copay. Medication is way too expensive especially when there is no alternative med/generic substitute. And not to get into a political argument (PS rules) but it has only gotten worse since Obamacare IMO. Less procedures covered, less Rx meds covered, copays higher and starting next year FSA allowances halved!! :(sad

I work at a not for profit multidisciplinary health clinic and the government has so tied our hands regarding what drugs we can prescribe to our patients. There are so many necessary meds that are no longer covered by medicaid/medicare that it blows my mind. Our patients really are getting the short end of the stick here. There simply aren't suitable alternatives for many of the Rx meds the government took away from us. I am talking about vital medication. Sure you can call up the health care companies and spend hours appealing the decision and sometimes it works in the patient's favor but many times it does not and all the time and manpower wasted doing this. Really disheartening.

I've done pill splitting for years on two medications that both were VERY expensive. My dr. entirely supported doing it with both and I never had any problems. I tapered off of one med also by splitting and I'm almost off of my anti-depressant by splitting/tapering the tablets.

I asked my Dr for pills I could split and he told me he could get in big trouble if he got caught.

Really? I've never had a dr. turn down such a request...and furthermore, when tapering off my meds, the pharmacists have recommended splitting the pills up rather than refilling in smaller dosages. And, some medications are scored specifically so they can be split...

Maybe it's the meds you're asking for!

Another website:ePharmacies.com, that can help to find prescription drugs at the lowest price! I'm not sure how they do it, but you can get prescriptions for a much lower price at pharmacy.
