What does bezel set mean?

And it doesn''t have to be a thicker setting but it needs to have a uniqueness about it :)

Thank you so much for wanting to help me! I''m excited! I''m open to any and all suggestions :)

This is an example of a bezel setting. It''s where the metal goes all the way around the girdle of the stone: http://www.knoxjewelers.biz/index.htm?crn=261&rn=767&action=show_detail

Here''s a Bezel Set princess three stone:

Unique, delicate and pretty:

You can do something like this... only with 1 Champagne/Michael B cluster set into the shank on either side.

Sorry but I''m not crazy on the bezel set...

I do like this though! Anybody know who makes or sells it?

I thought I''d help out with some pics of the WF champaigne setting with a princess cut stone in the center. I''m not sure of the exact size, but I would assume it''s around a 1CT princess center as Jamie from WF sent me the pics for reference purposes. I''m going with about a 1 CT X factor center with the wf champaigne setting in platinum. I showed the setting to my GF a while ago, and that''s actually how I picked WF was from the uniqueness of this setting. She loves it and has yet to find another setting that comes close in her opinion. I''ve showed her all of the designers as well as the WF settings and she still comes back to the champaigne. I do see some of the hesitation with going with the princess in the center of the champaigne but I still like it a lot. I think the X factor with its clipped corners should help the setting and move it more towards the round that everyone likes. loo

I know you are looking for other settings midwest, but I''ll throw my vote in for the champaigne setting as will my GF.

Thank you for your vote of confidence and the pics! I REALLY wish these pictures from whiteflash were clearer. They just look a bit fuzzy and that center stone looks like an X-factor to me.

So are you gettting the ''petite'' version or the regular? I''m leaning towards the petite version right now. It''s thinner, a few hundred dollars less, BUT it has .2ctw of side stones instead of .4.

Yeah, the pictures aren''t the best, but they do help a little. I agree that the stone looks like an X factor in the setting. I think the way the double prongs are setup, basically takes away the pointed ends of the princess cut, making it look like an X factor. I can post 2 pics of different settings with the X factor in them for reference if you like. In my point of view, it''s very very hard from the other pictures I have from WF to distinguish the x factor from the princess once set. One of the settings is a solitaire piece as well.

I''m going to go with the regular version. I don''t see too much difference in size and my GF''s ring size is a 7, so she doesn''t have small fingers. I like both though and you can''t go wrong with either one. I do find the sopranos comment funny though, as I''m a New Yorker and I guess we like some flash :)

Midwest, have you looked through the Show Me The Ring thread yet? There are like 90 pages of rings people have posted, with many Princess in there.

So I found out she doesn''t like real thin settings. She thinks Bezel sets are horrid (as do I). And no bueno on the halo settings. She''s a 22 year old model, drives a big pick up truck, and works as a network control technician. I''ve got quite the diverse girlfriend :) She likes very unique settings...

you know her better than anyone. get what you think she will like. you really seem drawn to the champaigne setting so there must be a reason why. don''t second guess yourself and don''t let other people who have no clue as to her style try and convince you of what *they* think she should like.
just git ''er done.

Then go with your gut, if you think she would love this setting don''t let us distract you into buying something else that isn''t right for her.

Just cause you two love the setting and want a princess doesn''t mean they will look good together in the end. That rectangular radiant looks good in the setting because the internal sparkles are not so right angled. The princess just looks wrong, with the round melee and really rounded dome shaped band. Don''t do it unless you are sure that you will love the princess in that setting!

If you want to put a squarer stone in there you could try a cushion - a normal one, I don''t like the X-Factor in there for the same reason a princess looks off.

Are you looking for white metal or yellow gold? Someone posted a brushed yellow gold version of that setting on ps and it was to die for - and I am not normally a yellow gold girl.

This is the Vatche X Prong or a look alike! Whose pictures are those? It looks like my set but I don''t think I ever took pics that good! I have the setting and love it, and I think it would look great with a princess. There are many examples on here as well!

oh, and I got my setting locally, but I believe that Winfields and Good old Gold sell it. Whiteflash has their own version.
