I finally have my champagne diamond (procured from the lovely Kelpie a couple months back) set. She is about 1.42 carats of old mine cut wonkiness that I just adore to pieces and affectionately call "Ginger".
Loose, this diamond was one of the least photogenic gems I had seen, but something just told me when I saw her listed for sale that she was really special and just needed the right opportunity to shine.
The inspiration for the setting was to resemble a flute of champagne (or ginger ale, hence the name), and Poppyseed & Amcor helped make that vision a reality, right down to the little "groupie bubbles" that fizzle toward the top on the sides. She is set in 14k unplated satin finished white gold. Picture still don't do her justice as she dazzles with a colorful sparkle show in just about any light.
I have a few smaller champagne diamonds that might be used to add a couple thin stacking bands, but for now, I am just so thrilled with how it turned out. Very fitting to wear to the local winery grape stomp this evening.
Here is the video of her loose, dazzling in the lights and probably best shows her sparkling personality. http://youtu.be/6ab8kAJR1mY
And pictures ...
