Haven’t gone yet. Prob today or Friday.

Ah ok. If you have been to the HK show, this one really can’t compare. Not even to the Nov show. But bigger than anything in SG so far of course

Finally getting around to setting my sapphire and OECs. They go to GIA next week to get lab reports. The setting is nothing fancy - just a sort of antique-inspired three-stone. The gems themselves take up so much real estate there's no room for anything else.

IMG_9813.jpg

Sapphire isn't back yet but diamonds are - H, VS2 and I, Si1. I had bought them as J/K VS2/SI1 and the appraiser and recutter had thought they were an I and J. Really not minding that they were an H and I instead!

So did you go???

I'm broke and bored!!! I need someone to buy a big rock to entertain me!!!!

Alas, dear @mellowyellowgirl I felt unwell this afternoon so I didn’t go! Maybe tomorrow or Friday. I need to check out the Muzo emeralds.
Ahem, there must a reason for being “broke“ — you already bought your big rocks! I am a late starter ( began in 2019) so maybe I have an excuse.
I must say I am with you on buying big. Buying bigger and better makes sense from a value preservation perspective.

I'm so jealous! Wish I was anywhere near any shows like these.
@Mrs_Strizzle we got lucky this year! Usually this show is in Hong Kong. I go just to get a feel of the trends. I also observe what is scarce and what is only supposedly so.

More Muzo from Fine Colombian emeralds. I think this was the best among all the booths with Muzo. Sorry the color is a bit distorted because of the warm lighting. 51683919-2A64-404E-9219-48C3F1830A15.jpeg

OMG!!! Be still my beating heart!!!! An emerald heart!!!

Did you get to see any of the cheapie gems like tourmalines and Spess @Crimson?

The affable and knowledgeable owner explained that the heart is “more affordable” :razz:at USD40K because it is not Muzo green, but a lighter shade. The round has a better colour and saturation at 72K. I must admit I did a very targeted search mostly for Colombian emeralds. I did see some Zambian ones that were nice too,
There were some pretty garnets and tourmalines, and nice spinels. 471117C4-BE56-44BF-8119-FBDDD3E9B40B.jpeg

Omg thank you so much for the pics @Crimson

And the pricing on the Emerald!!!

How did you find the prices in general compared to online?

And most importantly did you buy anything???

Aww, thank you, I am. I immediately felt better when I saw the gems :mrgreen2::P2

Because this was a business-to- business or trade-only show, I got a good sense of how much suppliers charge jewellery businesses.
I was also shown jewellery items that cost millions, and thar were not on display. One of them was a single Muzo emerald with side stones. The stone looked so rich and deep, it was like a world unto itself! Sorry I cannot post photos of those private pieces.
I didn’t buy anything. The visit was for fieldwork and research. I showed the Muzo ring specs to dealers and asked how much it would cost. Now I know the Muzo ring was offered to me at a best mates’ rate because no one could beat the price :mrgreen2:

@mellowyellowgirl I actually specially looked at some rare gems at the show and yeah, don’t like means don’t like, no matter how rare or valuable they are.

It also confirmed how much I love to shop for blings in person! Shopping online and trying to guess what the color would be like for CS in real life is so so difficult. Plus, some gems tend to look so much better in pics.

Didn’t take many pics and I realised why… because my pics never show how beautiful the gems are in real life and it sort of frustrates me. Plus after a while 10 ct stones become “common”. You have to imagine that even at a small show like this, there are booths and booths of vendors and trays/bags/heaps of coloured stones and other set jewellery. But some stuff:

Thanks! I honestly don't think it shifts to violet much. Those pics are probably as violet as it looks. It's at GIA now and I'm a little nervous because I bought it from ceylonsapphiregems on insta and then shortly afterwards there was that big drama on here involving him. So I'm really hoping it comes back as just heated, as how it was represented. I will keep everyone posted. Even if it turns out to have some other treatment, I am still going to set it because I can't decide on any other setting for my OEC diamonds and also want to be able to wear them, as they are the only diamonds over a carat that I own, and they've been sitting in the safety deposit box for three years.

I think it is around 6 carats. I don't remember. It is very deep as well but it has a lovely color. Not too dark, not too light, doesn't black out, but is noticeably a different color than my engagement ring sapphire so I don't feel like I'm repeating or replacing it!

The sapphire is back from GIA - basic heat only and Sri Lankan origin, exactly as advertised. So breathing a sigh of relief on that!

That's awesome! I love a simple, but chunky 3-stone design. I think this piece is going to look spectacular with the OECs, and I look forward to seeing it completed. Did you say DK was crafting it?

Hi people! I'm wondering if anyone has advice on what to make besides rings, that still makes it easy for you to look at the stones yourself. I just noticed that I went from nothing to a whole bunch of rings just because I find it the easiest to appreciate the stones while I'm wearing them. Braceletes and bangles also good but more expensive and very few of my stones match.
