carat vs. hand

Here is a visual of a 1 ct compared to a 2 ct on a size 4 hand.

Here's one of a 1.5 and a 2 ct

If it were me? And I was a girl that liked the idea of size but didn't want to look so big its cartoonish or vulgar, I'd opt for a stone that faces up smaller. A step cut like a asscher or emerald. If she is open to that. Now an emerald cut to me would be perfect as it stays slimmer on the sides and longer n/s so it would be sooooo flattering on a itty bitty finger, but not looks to big, and she would be able to say she had a whatever size diamond, which makes ladies feel good. Here's a 2 ct emerald next to a 1.5 ct round, the size of both seem appropriate on the finger. But I would say 2 ct round might look a bit too big, if she's specifically concerned about that.

You can ask, you're just choosing not to :)

My ring finger is a 6.75 and my index finger is about a 8.5.

Yes index finger is usually bigger. (How lucky she sounds like she has small hands)

Of course you can ask I assume you two have talked about getting married eventually right? Play it off like you're saving and want to know for a very future date or something. Woman love the surprise perposal, but not as much the idea of not getting a say in their ring. So having at least one chat about it before you buy isn't a bad idea at all :wavey:

I agree with Neil. I'd just bring it up and get ideas! Also, some women don't know their finger size. Maybe go window shopping? :D
