I''ve finally narrowed the search down quite a bit. My favorite two so far are below:

it''s a size 6.5ish ring.

Ring 1 and Setting 1:
http://store.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry/view/4833/
-> Center stone .48-.52 carat with roughly half carat halo and pave

Ring 2 and Setting 2:

http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-17884.htm

Pros/Cons of #1:
+ you get a lot of diamond
- will it look too "blingy"?? Like a big mass of sparkles with little definition.

Pros/Cons of #2:
+ it''s a classic, elegant "Tiffany"-style setting. Whiteflash ACA diamond.
- will 0.56 carat look awkwardly small on that setting?

Input please! Thanks... :)

1!

.5 stone will look fine in the Tiffany setting.

if you want, you can just buy ring no.1 and have this ACA put in: http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-205736.htm or I'm sure Bill @ Pearlman's has stones for you to pick.

also about the mass of sparkles: the size of the flash mostly depends on size of stone. since both options have about same size stone, I don't think it matters too much.

Definitely #1! I won''t look to blingy, no such thing.

It will give the illusion of a larger diamond!

I do like the look of a classic Tiffany solitaire, but I do prefer the look with a larger diamond. I ddin''t even like the look with my 1.74 ct, but that''s just me.

Which do you think your intended would prefer?

Hi guys thanks for replying. I think that with the Tiffany, it being the "safe" choice, she wouldn''t be vastly disappointed maybe except if the 0.56 carat diamond looks small on it. With the Pearlmans ring, it is certainly a bolder setting, I don''t know if she''ll think it''s too flashy. We try to be pretty humble and modest people and don''t like to attract attention to ourselves, especially with bling. But I want her to wear an engagement ring that she really likes and thinks back fondly to that day of proposal. Problem is ... don''t know which one that is! But your opinions help.

Personally, I''d go with #2 - it''s a very classy combo
