I'm looking to pull the trigger on one of these two stones, they are about $1800 apart. I saw them in person, although the 1.44 does appear a bit larger, the 1.18 seems to almost have more flash to it and when holding them side by side, I can certainly see the color difference. I think comparing them side by side because its hard to give up the size difference because of the color, which standing alone won't appear colored at all. They truly both have great light return, making it very difficult to decide.

Looking at the specs, dimensions, and ASET/DiamXray images, which would you go with of these two? Thanks, I'm really torn!! :wall:

I'd go look at them again in different lighting hopefully outside, I would find it surprising that you don't get more impressive flashes from the larger one.

How are you setting the stone?

Wow, great choices! It will be a stunning heirloom.

I think, based on the photo and what you said about the 'E' looking flashier, I'd choose the 'E'. I like smaller tables, too. I have an 'I' colored stone in a platinum halo, and, while it looks white, and I definitely think I would notice and appreciate the color difference if it were an 'E'. Having the halo will make it a gorgeous substantial ring, so, my vote is the 'E' for color and your aforementioned flashiness and smaller table.

I would go for bigger stone, more appearance and lively cut.

Here's a short video of the 1.18c. The 1.4c is slightly bigger than this one but the yellow color is stuck in my mind. Comparing the two diamonds side by side was a mistake as now I'm very aware of the color change from E to I . I just don't know if she would ever become aware of the color and it become bothersome. It comes down to taking a hit in color to gain size :(

I did a comparison almost exactly like you an AVC 1.2 versus a modern cushion 1.5ct, my wife chose size easily and she really didn't care that much about the nuances of cut. Both were H color.

When you put any cushion in a halo of tiny round brilliants there will be a contrast and the larger stone will look tinted compared to the small RB stones whether its E or I color.

That's why I suggested the H. It is slightly whiter than the I and just a few hundred dollars more. I really think the E is too small.
