Can anyone tell me where I can get some loose please?

That would be great!

Thanks

Does anyone have any views on these retailers?

What are the tax implications getting these shipped from Canada?

The strange thing is that I''ve found a Uk version of the site too... whats going on - where are they based?

Hi Michel,
I am buying a stone through Diamondexchange.ca - they have lots of loose Canadian stones. Michael Baumbach has been wonderful to work with - very helpful and easygoing and patient with respect to what my specifications were.

So where are they actually based?

Thanks,

Paul

Diamondexchange has offices in Toronto and New York, but they are part of a company based out of Australia. On their website, it says they have an office in London, but when I was talking to Michael about the satellite office in Vancouver, he said that it wasn't fully serviced yet as they are still trying to assess the effectiveness of shipping stones to and from the satellite offices, but perhaps London is different given the population difference. In any case, it might be worth a call to see what they've got. My situation is a little different in that I was looking for an antique cushion cut but I'm in western Canada and they are nowhere to be found where I live. Michael is assisting me with the purchase of a stone that's in NYC as he often travels between Toronto and their NY Offices. I think what I most appreciate about Michael is that he's been able to help me reach an informed decision about my stone without ever being pushy. If you tell him what kind of stone you want, he hears what you're saying and will take it into account.

ETA - I see in your other post that you are interested in bringing the stone to the US, no? I thought you were in the UK for some reason. I don't know what the tax implications are but I'm sure you could talk to your vendor about that. I think there are lots of vendors who have access to Canadian stones if that's what you're interested in. You may want to just phone Jonathan at Good Old Gold as well since he provides videos and phenomenal photos of diamonds for his long-distance customers.

Well spotted!

I am actually in the UK, but my uncle lives in the US - so I am going to get my diamond shipped to him!

I was interested in Canadian Diamonds originally because I wanted to work with an ethical jeweller here in the UK, and rather than get the diamond off them (as they were charging MASSIVE margins) I was going to get the loose and then get it set here.

the problem I was facing was cut and choice of Canadian Diamond was generally a lot poorer. So now I am perhaps thinking of just going to one of the good online jewellers from the States.

Thanks for the tip re Jonathan - I will give him a mail...

I can get my fiancee a lovely stone now!! :):):)
