Can you tell me about these diamond angles?

I know AGS 000 is good, but that superideal is better. I have a half carat bgd that is superideal and it is incredible. This stone looks fantastic in most light and dark sometimes. I’ve read recent posts about dark spots on well cut stones. Anyways, would love to learn about diamonds so if you know about the cut I would appreciate the info.

If it’s not clear what I’m asking: is it a small or large table? Is it a good AGS 000, or not as good? I think it is not a 60/60 stone. Anyways stuff like that :)

I’m trying to distinguish between different decent diamond cuts, and how they compare and the different visual effects they have.

The angles are in the great range and the face up optical symmetry looks good(arrows).
Table is in the middle range 55-57
The polish kicks it down to ags1

Looks like this was before AGS gave light performance grades. I bet this stone performs better than most you’ll ever see at maul stores. Looks beautiful in that setting.

What @Karl_K said. This is still a gorgeous stone even if not “super ideal”! I would not be worried at all about the polish being excellent vs ideal. The difference is negligible imo. It appears to be a very eye-clean SI1 as well. Great find!

I would sell the setting and get a matching side stone :P2

I wanted to add that the EX polish means nothing as far as the diamond looks and performance.

Great insight, thank you!!

With the light performance grades, is that the ASET imagery?
Haha yes probably better than most maul stones!!

Good to know about the polish not being an issue visually. I was wondering how that would affect a diamond.

Hehe yes I need to save up for a side stone!! Not sure I want to sell the setting, as I think it would be so cool for a coloured stone :)

But that is a good idea...

So is polish something that is more noticeable at extreme magnification, and something that detracts from a stone only when it’s fair/poor?

Depends on where and how much.
General visible issues can start to appear somewhere in the good range if its on the crown.
These days fair/poor on a modern stone indicates the diamond was possibly damaged at some point and not fixed.

Thank you, this is interesting to know! I appreciate it.
