Can you tell if a ring has ever been sized?

Just picked up a little nothing ring that I bought that they were supposed to size down. Wear it for a few hours and realize it was not sized.

Can you tell, by looking at it, if a ring has ever been sized or not?

oh - and - it measures the same now as *before sizing*
yes, I should have checked it out better before I left the store

How irritating. Mistakes do happen especially this close to a big jewelry holiday. However, I would certainly bring it in and talk with them about it.

If done well, you should not see any sizing marks on the shank, but I have seen some that have a discolored line where it had been cut. I guess you could tell if the ring did not fit before and it still fits the same way now.
