Apologies if this thread exists somewhere else-- if so please link!

I have a diamond and a pretty good idea (plus pictures!) of the setting I want. I haven't been terribly impressed by local jewelers and am wondering if I can work with someone online to help make my custom engagement ring a reality. Any information, tips, and advice would be greatly appreciated!

If it helps, what I have in mind is art deco inspired, with a fishtail setting and milgrain. Thanks!

What is your budget for the setting?

Budget and pics.

I've never had jewelry custom made before, so I'm not sure what a realistic budget should be. I've had quotes locally from $450 to $3900!

Here are some pictures.

Cvb inspired designs (on Etsy) recently made a lovely tight bezel marquise wedding band. So I do think she could execute your shank design. I have never seen her do fishtail prongs though. She has a nice eye for vintage designs.

This replica setting is very similar to your inspiration photos... I know they could easily add the mille grain around the marquise diamonds - maybe email them and see if it would accommodate your diamond's dimensions? (fyi: the price listed is for the complete diamond ring shown, already sold)

eta: okay, here's the same setting (I think) with milgrained marquises - http://antiqueengagementrings.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=3883 - ha, can you tell I'm browsing thru their entire catalogue?
