Was hoping for a little help. Diamond is 1.54 carats, color H, VS2. Cut is good, with the following specs:
Table = 67%, crown angle = 32%, pavillion angle = 41.4%, cutlet height = 10.5, star = 50%, lower half = 80%, pavillion depth = 43.5%, total depth = 56.4%, girdle thickness = 2.5%, cutlet = small.

Would this be a good diamond? I know the table is big, but I noticed that if the table was the tiniest bit smaller, like 66%, then it would have been rated VG. Any feedback or explanations of how the diamond would suffer because of its specs would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The table is not big, it is gigantic.
Did you buy this?

no, have not purchased. sounds like you would recommend against doing so?

can you tell me in layman's terms what would be wrong with this diamond? dull?

Thanks so much!

Most of the people here don't like such big tables, they will explain you why.
The lack of fire will be one of the reasons.

The more important thing is the possibility of a fish-eye with such a large table.

The pavilion is deep enough to avoid a fish-eye, but we all agree there are potentially better diamonds.

have you seen this diamond in person?

Yes, are you able to see this stone in person. Some find that for whatver they are lookng for - for whatever budget they have- a "Good" stone is perfect for them.

If buying blind online- then I would be wary since you will not be able to determine how you like the stone/cut grade.

you will see little coloured light output in lighting that other RBs are ablaze in, but lots of bright white splintery sparkle. It probably faces up visibly larger than "ideal" types of the same carat weight. The table reflection area around the culet will take up a significant amount of what you see, whilst the visibly obstructing mains will be short, so if you like seeing arrows this is not the stone for you. Obviously if you dislike table glare, this is also not the stone for you.

When you say "you will see little coloured light output in lighting that other RBs are ablaze in, but lots of bright white splintery sparkle" does that mean that it will still be pretty sparkly, just with less coloured light? If I purchase it, it will be used for a solitaire necklace, not a ring, so my main concern is that it not be dull and lifeless. Would this be good quality for a necklace?

yes, going just by the numbers, it will be sparkly - but a different type of sparkly to a 'traditional H&A type'. The numbers never tell the whole story though so make sure you have a professional eye it over - or buy with a good return policy in writing :))

for a pendant - if priced right, it could be a good buy, though I personally would still not be happy with such a large table..I want different things out of a pendant than I do from a ring - I want size, for which a shallow stone is a bonus, I don't care about obstruction issues that shallow stones may have, and I personally don't particularly care about white vs coloured light return - so long as there's lots of it.
