Can someone give me a ballpark price on an OEC?

I honestly don't love the ones you posted, and I also do not like the 3 from Grace. The last one has a really pretty facet pattern, but it is sooo out of round.

Great OECs are wonderful and can take a long time to find. Take your time. It's worth it!

That’s so funny - I like OECs that are about out of round! I almost bought a “cushiony” OEC - some of it really comes down to personal preference and I tend to like bezels so some of quirks can be hidden...good call out tho!

The colors in the video of that last stone ❤️❤️❤️ Will look at what else I can find there

I’d also definitely encourage you to contact Old World Diamonds! I think they have more than what’s online and Adam has a great eye for beautiful OECs!

Between the two, the one on the right, However, as others have said - I really don't care for them either.

I agree with others that I don't love either option. I would definitely contact old world diamonds.

I love the shape of this stone. But I am a fan of the cushiony OEC. You get the best of both worlds, if you love the cushiony shape.

Yes. Same. I do not really like the perfect rounds or the new OEC cuts. My favorite is an OMC, so when it comes to an OEC, I always gravitate to an out of round/cushion shape.

I have been contemplating if I even want an OEC that is larger. I was going to do do a 10.5 mm plus OEC as my next big project, but I don't like the traditional roundness and prefer a more rustic pattern as compared to the flower or snowflake OECs. Maybe I answered my own questions.

I went to see them in person and did not like them. So hard to find a good one. Will look at some of the vendors you awesome ladies suggested. Now let’s hope I don’t give up and go for an RMB. In the meanwhile, if one of you finds a good stone that you can’t buy yourself, do keep me in mind.

Do you know what you're looking for exactly? I know you were looking at 1.6-1.7 ish J/K colour SI clarity? Has that changed at all? Why budget constraints? We're always on instagram and can help lol

What specifically didn't you like about the ones you saw?
Use /draw on pictures to explain, that might be easier.

@dhimer you are in good hands. These ladies helped me find a glorious OEC.

The size was purely based on what my budget could afford - around 11-12k for the stone. I wanted it to face white so K would probably be lowest color. I like the flower and snowflake type cuts. Let me find a picture of a dream one lol

The smaller one was too dark, don’t shine enough. The other one in person had a big dent/drop on one of the sides that did not show in the video- almost like a big ditch. It would bother me every time I would look at it

Can I ask where you went?
Are they pulling more to show you - either still in your initial parameters or beyond?

And did you get to see them in different environmental lightings? Or just one?

and the one with the big dent, as you say, is a VS2? A girdle chip maybe?

I went to my local jewelry store. The jewel had said he would keep an eye out if he found any OECs. That is not his specialty and he does not get those stones often. I saw them in the store light, dim light and outdoor light ( sunny day)

That’s good you got to move around with them. They perform quite differently depending on where you are.
Im sorry you didn’t find ‘the one’ but seeing in person and finding out what you don’t want is just as valuable.

I like the look of the 1.77, but worry abt the symmetry being “fair”. Is this something to worry abt ?
The 1.65, looks pretty but missing a defined pattern- unless this is typical for the early cut OEC. Experts pls chime in !

No expert
But I would value what I liked (and what fit in my budget) with my eyes over a report stating fair symmetry.
Others would not consider it.

but mine, at fair symmetry as well, was not at this price point nor grade.

Amen to comments like these. Although in saying that everyone has different tastes. Maybe OP prefers a more perfectly rounded appearance.

Great point.
Is symmetry only /mainly outline shape?

Symmetry is about how the facets meet, not the outline/shape of the stone.

Isn't symmetry for OECs usually not great since they've been cut by hand? We have to throw MRB grading stats out the window for old cuts and evaluate by what is pleasing to the eye. I do love the ones from Erica!

I have been obsessively searching for this stone today ( I want one on my finger darn it ). I came across this , in a setting I actually love! Looks good in the video ( see link below) but SI clarity. Thoughts ladies ?

wow that is STUNNING. Gorgeous facet patterns...could you verify if it's eye-clean?

I messaged the vendor to confirm. Still have not heard back.
