Hi all,
So I''ve been searching around for the Amorique stone (at Birks) but because of the pricing.. i want to know if I can find it anywhere else. Birks keeps telling me it''s their signature cut... but I''m wondering.. is the Amorique stone just a regular cushion? Or is it really a UNIQUE cut?
Here''s the ring from birks btw:

http://www.birks.com/index.asp?cFlag=products&collectionID=820&n=1&isCollection=1&PageID=3&SKU=911660&SecID=0&CatID=0&LangID=1

And I know they probably don''t have the GIA or AGS certs either.. which sucks... cuz i can''t get any information regarding culet/girdle/depth/table ..etc.. Is Birks even trustworthy? They tell me all their stones are IDEAL cuts... is that true?

ahhhhhhh... ring shopping is soo stressful!! =)
I appreciate any help i can get.. THANKS so much.

Hi!

My computer won''t work with your links, and I don''t know about their cushions. However, I do know where you can get great cushions (seriously) at great prices. Check out the cushion videos.

Most welcome!

Also I know nothing about this vendor, the Amorique sounds like a branded cut. I would say to be cautious with so called ideal cut terms used for cushions. There really are no set standards for '' ideal'' which will guarantee you a well cut cushion, this term can be used rather loosely. So I would ditto Ellen in looking at goodoldgold or Mark at

www.engagementringsdirect.com in order to find well cut cushions.

What is it about the diamond that you like? If it''s just the shape, looks to be just a square cushion. As for the particular cut, it could be their unique cut but many places have that. Even mall stores like Zales and Kay Jewelers have their "unique/ideal" cuts.

As for not having a GIA/AGS cert. I''d steer away if they couldn''t provide you with one.

Thankies for the link mam. And lecomte, no problem!

I still tend to think you''d do better online. It''s been my (and many others) experience that local shops "usually" don''t carry, or care about cut like some on the online guys do.
