I have a lovely small diamonds that has been in my family since WWII.
It has as lovely high color but some imperfections (white feather or cloud) I can see with the scope.

The table is definitely overly large to my eye.

How would I go about getting it recut to ideal or H&A?

Who would I ask and about what would the cost be like?

If I invested in it would it still be cheaper than buying a new diamond and I could still have the sentimental value of it?
I can''t afford to buy a new diamond since I have another but this color is very nice and the stone would look so much better without the spread table like it has now.
How much weight could it lose?

HOW IS THE FEE DETERMINED AND WOULD IT BE WORTH IT IN THE LONG RUN???

I KNOW NOTHING CAN BE DETERMINED BY SUCH A CRUDE ESTIMATION BUT IF IT A POSSIBILITY I WOULD RESEARCH IT FURTHER.

TIA,
T

I can't responsibly offer you any advice on whether your diamond is suitable for recutting or what sort of result you are likely to get - I do suggest you contact Brian Gavin at

www.briangavindiamonds.com

Brian will be able to tell you what your options are and how much it will cost. Also just so you know recutting isn't without risk, although it is rare diamonds can break or shatter at the wheel and it is usual that the cutter won't assume liability, so there is that to consider also. As a rule of thumb, generally the finer the cut you want, the more weight can be wasted to craft the diamond into these proportions, Brian will be able to give you your options.
