Can I get your opinion on a few halo options?

I have an ideal cut 0.74ct RB in a 4 prong solitaire, and I just don't love it. I'm not even sure if it's the diamond or the setting (recently I've been really into old cut style stones - bigger facets / flashes of color), so I really can't even tell if it's the diamond I don't like anymore. But - I've always wanted a halo, and I think this stone would be an ideal candidate. So I've been looking around, and come up with a few designs that are affordable and of decent quality (I think).

Which ones do you think would look best for a 3/4ct round on a size 4.75 finger?

Thank you!

I second the recommendation of the Beverly K 9784. It's more interesting than the others, and it's very elegant.

Not sure what metal you are thinking of but that setting would look beautiful in rose gold

Hmm. Not the opinions I was expecting! But it is pretty........ keep 'em coming!

I like these two the best, mostly because they are so unique and have sort of an art-deco flair to them:

Otherwise, if you are looking for a standard, round halo, I don't think you could go wrong with any of the options you posted. They are all lovely. I tend to prefer a plain shank, but that's only because I have one! :)

+1 - and I *really* like r1322 - to me, it looks both vintage and modern at the same time.

For those of you who have pave on the shank - does it bother you? All the rings I have are plain shank, but I don't know if I would like (or even feel!) the pave .

I wish there was a pic somewhere of the BK 9784 with a stone in it......... Hmm.

It doesn't sound like you really like it, so why is it on the list?

oh gosh no - I do like it!

hence my debates... too many choices...

Both Gabriel's are gorgeous. I had before plain shank bezel setting and I changed to halo with diamonds in shank. I think it is very beautiful with plain wedding band. I won't change it to anything now after I have used to it.

I like the Gabriel 8277- It is the only halo shown without an outer bezel. I am not a fan of halos or bezels and especially halos with bezels.

Good point! I guess I never internalized the bezel presence. Thank you for pointing that out! More to consider....

I kind of have the same dilemma with a .80 rb that I had recut. Everything I love is vintage in design, but I know that an AVR/OEC would look better in them.

I love both BK and TD. TD has improved their site since I last looked at it and they have some killer earring settings for old stones! I saw a lot of rings on there that I liked. But again, I am not so sure about putting a mrb in a vintage style setting. So I might just go with a classic pave halo like the Gabriel one (8277).

I've thought about all that too, DS. I really, really want an AVR. I've even considered selling this RB to help fund that little project. I'd love to have a sizeable one (1ct or bigger), but I think that's not attainable in the near future.

I do have an empty setting that held a 1/2ct rb once upon a time - I could maybe put a half carat AVR in that.......

..... which brings me back to this 3/4 rb. Halo it or sell it? And re: the Gabriel 8277... there are 12 stones around the center, and a tcw of 0.22, which puts each of them at 2 pointers a piece (roughly). Do you think that would look odd with a 3/4ct center?

My brain hurts. ;)
