Hello, I am very new to this world, I have been offered a couple of yellow diamonds and I wanted to ask some help to know their current value in market.
Could anyone please gimme a hand? Thanks in advance.
For current market pricing, I suggest you go to a reputable online diamond vendor such as Blue Nile or James Allen and plug in the carat weight, shape and color/intensity of your diamonds -- the results will give you a rough price range which should be helpful.
I already did before posting, but there are no stones with same characteristics currently, that's why I hoped for the help of an expert, as I noticed any difference can make a huge increase in price and not sure which ones are the most valuable... So yes, I have an idea of the price but I am still lost in an accurate target price.
I searched BN and JA for Fancy Light Yellow Cushions with carat range 1.99-2.09 and then sorted results for highest clarity to lowest, then grabbed screenshots of top two rows -- I hope this helps.
What loses me is I found a single IF at this forum's browser and cost 55k at BN... So not sure at all if that characteristic rise the price so much or why that stone is so pricy compared to these ones.
Color intensity is what drives prices in Fancy Colored Diamonds.
Fancy Light Yellow ("FLY") is the least intense yellow color, is readily available in the market, and the lowest price of all yellow diamonds. IF clarity will increase a FLY's price somewhat as compared to otherwise similar but lower clarity FLYs.
Yes I read it, but still too noob to process so much information.
Thanks for all the help.
Then, looking at the search you ss and the GIA of those stones, maybe between 30k and 40k would be a good price, or maybe even lower... 20k for example? What would you do in my case?
Not gonna complain later, just asking an expert opinion and your experience is 10000% higher than mine. Thanks in advance.
Please know that in general diamonds are not a good investment.
If you buy a diamond today, tomorrow (and all tomorrows) you could only sell it for 50-70% of its price *at best* if you were to sell on the preloved market and you were prepared to wait for your price. The person who sold you the diamond would likely only offer you 30% of what you paid.
While rare and high-quality Fancy Colored Diamonds may keep their value and sometimes appreciate, they are the exception.
No, the two stones you posted each basically have a $10K market value today only if you bought from a reputable vendor with a return policy.
FLY diamonds are not top-end and not high-quality. They will not appreciate in value. As soon as you buy them, they lose value.
Unless you are buying the stone(s) because you love Very Light Yellow Diamonds and wish to collect them even knowing you will lose money on them, it makes no sense to buy the diamonds.
