Cameo Appreciation

Hi everyone I looked through the threads and realized there isn’t much out there regarding Cameos. My mom has a vast Cameo collection mostly antique or vintage stuff inherited from her mom and things she bought herself. They always seem so dated to me so as a designer I decided to reset and redesign some of her pieces to make them more “current” in a way. They aren’t a lot but I’d like to show you some. Enjoy

With this Shell Cameo I played on the floral theme surrounding the lady. So I used Peridots, Aquamarines, Citrines, Garnet and Rubellites carved into flowers and accented them with Blue Sapphires, Emeralds and Rubies. I call this my Tutti Frutti Cameo Pendant a play on the 1920’s Tutti Frutti craze.

Shell Cameo I surrounded with two layers of diamonds to give it sparkle.

Shell Cameo Set I set with Australian Heart Cut Sapphires and Diamonds. The flower on top are Carved Citrines and the beads are also Citrine.

1947Artist Signed Ivory Cameo of a Roman Empress. I accented with Diamonds and a 17mm South Sea Pearl.

Italian Red Coral Cameo with a Blue Sapphire, Diamond and 17mm South Sea drop.

This used to sit on mum's dutchess, my sister 'allocated' it to me when she cleared out and packed up mum's things when she went into the home

i finally got a china cabinet last year and after happily descovering it in a box of mum's things i put in safely in there

imangine my surprise a few months back on discovering there was a necklace inside - i thought it was a pretty shape keepsake

I love how they match as a pair. What material are they? The design on the necklace is simple and sleek. Something you can wear to this day without feeling dated.

Ive never worn it - i will wear it tomorrow !
I thought it was silver
It has a number on the bottom but i can't look right now as Tibby is watching tv

Some more Cameos that I reset...

Shell Cameo set in three tone gold Set with diamonds. I did some colored stone inlay.

Agate Cameo in a ribbon design.

Unique Shell Cameo without a backdrop lends itself well to this design I call The Ascot Lady. I imagined a Lady watching the Ascot Races. In two tone gold, diamonds and rubies.

OMG Jadeit_101, these are so beautiful, your style is very Italian!

I am a big fan of Cameos having two unset Agathe cameos of which one was made by a master carver from Idar Oberstein.

Those cameos must be beautiful. I have a collection of unset cameos as well. Different materials from Agate to Angel Skin Coral to Shell. Cameos are just beautiful and can be quite classic when done the setting’s done right.

I love how they’re similar and yet different at the same time. Reminds me of how Hemmerle does cameo earrings which aren’t likely pairs.

From my pair, the hand carved one is a lot more valuable than the other which I assume is machine cut.

Btw, the cameos you just posted are of the highest quality!

I like them all but love the rectangle one, wow!
I'm sure you will set them all beautifully, you have great talent and hope you keep posting your work.

P.S.what I meant by my last line in my previous post is that those look like antiques, cannot pin point the century but pretty sure those are old, master carvings.

When old meets new... combined a vintage Emerald and Diamond pendant and a new Green Agate Cameo... My mom wanted a new twist to the Emerald pendant so a simple way to update it was to add the Cameo...
