Calling owners of AVRs under 1 carat

An AVR diamond is on my wish list - I'm really liking the bold flashes that I've seen on the videos.

The glamour shots on the GOG website show the pretty flower pattern clearly, but I was wondering if you can see it on 0.5 - 1 ct stones IRL. I would like to know from the AVR owners out there if you can see the facet pattern in stones under 1 ct, say half an arm's length (kind of like the distance when you're reading or typing)

I think my budget will allow me to get one around a 0.5 ct, but I'm willing to keep saving (as long as I don't get tempted by something else shiny and sparkly) for something bigger where the facet pattern is more obvious.

PPS. Would it be wrong to mix an AVR with MRBs? I was thinking of how that would look - chunky bright flashes from the AVR combined the splintery sparkles of MRBs in say, a 3-5 stone ring?

As far as mixing AVRs and RBs, I personally wouldn't do it. They are two very different styles of diamond.

I was curious about the mixing because I'm considering using two MRB 0.25 ct diamonds from a pair of earrings as side stones for a ring...

I wouldn't mix but if you want to maximize size for budget ... would you consider buying from eBay? They are some real gorgeous OECs to be found.

Charmypoo, I tried looking on eBay for OECs and Trannies (a lot of them seem overpriced), but since I don't know enough about buying diamonds on the secondary market, it's really scary! I'm always amazed at the eBay finds that get posted here! Dreamer's OEC is a georgeous rock, and I would feel pretty safe buying from her. Unfortunately, I don't have the budget for that at the moment.
I wasn't sure about mixing the cuts before, but now I know - thanks!

I tried the typing thing and today I had it a full arms length away from my body and I could still see the flower pattern. So I'm pretty sure you're not gonna be disappointed.

So how did you find the handling in the various (lighting) conditions?

I'm most curious about office/flourescent lighting and natural daylight, because mall lighting makes pretty much anything sparkle...

I have yet to go to the mall! I tried to go yesterday cuz I wanted to see some mad sparkle but my timing didn't work out. I'm going to Walmart tonight so hopefully it gives me an idea. Whenever my sister in law goes with me, her ritani sparkles like crazy! So I'm at work right now under the fluorescent lighting and there seems to be more white light return. It's still a very bright stone.

I realized that my favorite light is when it's sunny outside and I use my hand to just provide a little bit of shade. This makes the flower pattern pop and makes the diamond GLOW like crazy! I also like standing with my back against the window.
