All EC experts - would love your input on these ECs I am considering. I have both on hold currently. Have seen in person and am on the fence so would greatly appreciate your input. Price is comparable between the two options.

Option 1: 2.70 E VS2 SB GIA 7261146006

Option 2: 2.72 G VS2 MB GIA 2185662918

Many thanks!

Do you specifically like that ratio? I personally like them with a little lesser ratio.

But of these two, I'd probably choose the second one primarily because the first one has inclusions right under the table that might bother me. The ASET images don't look that much different but the second one may have less leakag right in the center which is important. Does the seller by chance have a video of the stones? That might be helpful as well.

Thanks Diamondseeker. Yes, I like the more elongated proportions 1.4-1.5 ratio better personally.

The videos are done differently so I find them hard to compare or get a lot of insight out of. Here is the video of Option 2 though I am not sure it’s right given the visible inclusion or dirt doesn’t seem to match the GIA mapping of the inclusion.

I have an MP4 file of Option 1 only but apparently too large to load here. Do you know how to do this or a workaround for that?

I'm team 2.72GVS2
No obvious, glaring inclusions under or against the table, better symmetry, gorgeous ASET, probability of great light performance & flash is high, and the l x w ratio is perfect!!
How will you set it?

The second one has a better ASET and image, the video looks good.
How did it look in person? Did it make your heart sing?
I like the ratio, it is personal preference but I like em like these.

Definitely option 2. I like the lower depth on it for a tiny bit more spread in length (the diamond will look a bit bigger). Also, I am a big fan of the ratio you've chosen. To me, it is more in keeping with a classic, timeless, and more rare EC. This looks like a great choice.

Like diamondseeker, I agree the inclusion under the table in option 1 might be an issue. I'd have to see it in person to see if it would bother me.

Hi Matthews - thanks for your input! I have no idea how I want to set it yet I just really have wanted and emerald cut for a long time. I have an asscher that is in an Art Deco style setting with three baguettes on each side which I love but also don’t want it to look too similar. Maybe will venture into first micro pave type of setting though not a halo girl. Let me know if you have any inspiring ideas :appl::appl:

Hi Karl - thanks for your input, very helpful! I have seen both in person and the E has broader flashes which I like but somewhat dead in the center and I do see the inclusions as Diamondseeker and LawmaLlama suspected which bothers me. The Gcis lovely with thinner flashes / steps but quite uniform and very bright so actually none of us could visually see the colour difference between the G and E. The G seems understanded and elegant to me.

Hi LawmaLlama - thanks for your input also. Seems like a solid consensus among the group! I love the longer ratio too without getting too Long and skinny where I just don’t have the fiber length to carry that off. Yeah, the visible inclusion in the E bugged me and I can’t figure out how it was also a VS2 when the G had the same clarity also. The E with strong blue was tempting mentally - love the E and SBF but I had to force myself to not look for the inclusion which was hard

My impression of your post is that neither one really did it for you.
Don't be afraid to keep looking until you find one that makes your heart sing.

@globaltravel I'm not one of the experts here but wanted to say if the inclusion bothers you now, it will probably bother you more later.

I love elongated emeralds and can't wait to see how you set your new diamond. Have fun!

Thanks for the caution Karl. I am not usually “heart singing, love at first site” kind. It’s more that things grow on me over time where I love them more and more if it’s right. The challenge here was the store lighting was not great for anything beyond capturing brightness and pattern. What does make my heart sing is the way a diamond looks when you walk in the woods with only some sunlight coming through the trees and then some diamond give back these amazing colours. Hard to convince most sellers to let you walk around in the woods with a few diamonds usually :lol-2:

I am really leaning to the G VS2 - it really does have a beautiful faceting pattern and hints of great fire under even crappy lights

Calliecake - your are absolutely right about the inclusion. Especially in a quiet step cut. The ring I have with baguettes has one really small baguette with a visible inclusion and at times it does annoy me but thankfully it is a small side stone and the center stone is gorgeous to I mostly see that! In this size emerald in the middle of the table will probably drive me insane in short order!
