Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Hey Dreamer!! Can you believe this outcome way back when I was freaking out this summer about not getting pregnant on my first and second try? It''s unbelievable!! I am definitely thinking more strongly about defering a year! Then I would start school when the kiddos were 1 yr and 9 months, so they''d be talking (a little!) and probably able to get more out of daycare. We''ll see though! Thanks for the reminding me not to feel guilty about Clomid. Hopefully that will fade a little bit once I know they''re doing well and healthy.

I don''t think it''s possible that I ovulated more than 24 hrs apart because I think the progesterone from the first corpus luteum suppresses any further ovulation. I have NO idea how the tech missed it last time, but it was a very fast ultrasound, maybe 30 seconds. It''s so bizarre!

Mandarine, your positivity and excitment are shining through!!! I definitely need someone like you to be my twin buddy because I'm pretty nervous right now. I'm really excited too, but mostly shocked. When is your due date again? Mine is Nov 16th. I think twins almost always come at 37 or 38 weeks or before, right, since they run out of room? Did they tell you when to expect them or how long they're shooting for keeping them in there?

Most doctors won't let you go past 38 weeks MAX-so keep that in mind. And also 1/2 of all twins are born before 36 weeks...so if you'll be in school you will want to have contingency plans in place in case that happens. Or in case you have to go on bedrest as unfortunately it is VERY common in twin pregnancies.

As for the peri-I only saw one for ultrasounds. I do think you need to switch to an OB with twin experience though-it is NOT the same type of pregnancy so this is important IMO. I also did like having my ultrasounds with the peri...it added a good layer of security for me even though my doctor was very comfortable with twins.

Twinstuff.com is also a great resource for information. I don't like the people nearly as much as PS people-not to be condescending but there are a lot of people on the forum who aren't the brightest bulbs so take any medical info you get there with a grain of salt-but it's a good resource to know about regardless.

Peony! Holy crap.. that is incredible. Congratulations

I must admit, I was totally thinking April Fool''s Day at first, but then I thought about how serious you are about baby-making
2.gif
hehe. I am so jealous! Putting off med school may be a good idea (day care x2!), but at the same time... it''s best to get it over with before you have any second thoughts (and adorable babies waiting for you at home!)

Peony! What absolutely fantastic news. I am so happy for you and your DH - what a welcome surprise and I am sure not what you were expecting when you went in there today.

I've been losing little bits of my mucous plug all day and chased DH around the house with a small chunk when I got home. I then had to go buy him beer to make him feel less traumatized. Oops.

This made me LOL for real. How funny!

Our baby furniture is being delivered tomorrow! So much earlier than I had expected. Now I have to figure out how to arrange it- I might need some help/advice from you all tomorrow afternoon!

CONGRATS, Peony!!! OMG, I knew it! Feeling a little better now about my intuition again. I was starting to doubt that my little one''s a boy since that''s what intuition''s been telling me and my intuition''s been so wrong lately, lol.

Peony,

Girl, I was thinking about you all day yesterday after your post!!! The internet was down, so I couldn''t post, but gosh, I''m glad things are looking good!!!
9.gif

And two babies? Wow!!! Congratulations, mommy!!

(I am going to post re: this on the TTC thread, too.)

It''s so odd that the first ultrasound didn''t catch them both! Now I''m going to insist that my ultrasound be longer than 30 seconds, just to be sure, that''s for sure!

You will get excited too...I mean, just take a look at the PS twins (Neat''s boys, Jen''s little ones, Jas'', Ellaila''s) and your heart melts. They are so precious. Imagine the amazing bond twins have and how lblessed YOU will be by being their mommy
9.gif
.

My due date is 11/5. They haven''t changed it as I think that''s how they measure everything, but have told me they will probably come 2-3 weeks early. So we''re not even two weeks apart!!!
36.gif
. So we will be in the wold rise together!
2.gif

I''m still nervous, but it''s normal. I just try to visualize happy growing babies and I try to visualize that when they are here we have things somewhat in control. My mom will come to stay with us for one month when the babies are here and then I plan on asking other family members if they want to come and stay for a couple of weeks. I think the hardest will be the first 3 months, so start thinking about who can help you guys out.

And of course we have Neat, our mentor
9.gif
(who''s SO helpful and wonderful!) and very soon we will have NYC too to mentor us through the process
4.gif
.

So happy thoughts and give the twins a hug from theit PS twin friends

I''m so jealous of all the twins!! I have wanted twins since I was a little girl.

I can''t believe I''m 36 weeks today....and I get my cervix checked for the first time tomorrow! I also get that Group B strep test, which I''m hoping isn''t too unpleasant. Last time she did an exam, I felt like the thingy (what''s it called?) was pinching me in there. Yowch!

Peony- I cannot even begin to express how relieved and excited I am for you! What a crazy rollercoaster day for you and your DH! To go in thinking (God forbid) that you may be losing your ONE baby, and to come out knowing that you have been DOUBLY (is that a word?) blessed- whew! April Fool''s indeed! Sounds to me like you''ve got a couple little tricksters in there! How funny to think of the little babies orchestrating that, "ok- you go hide over here so they don''t see you, then next week we''ll REALLY give mom & dad a shock!!!" CONGRATULATIONS!

Blen- your story about the mucus plug goes to show how the squeamishness about labor and all that goes along with it really must wear off towards the end, because I have to admit when I read that I was like "EEEEEEWWWWWW!!!!!" Funny that DH got a beer run out of it though, sounds a lot like something my DH would do!

Last night I went to my sister''s house. She had shed off the last few baby lbs and had some clothes that were too big on her.

I gotta say, I never thought I would be happy to get my hands in "fat" clothes (she wasn''t fat, but you know what I mean when in the closet you have two sets of sizes
3.gif
). Anyway...today I''m wearing a pair of jean shorts that are a bit too big, but ohhhhhhhhhh so comfy!!!!!!!!!!!

It''s insane, I wake up with no bloat (or very little) and by noon I look like I''m 5 months pregnant!. The shorts give me room to grow through the day...lol

Blen, too funny about the mucus plug! I''m so going to be doing the same thing to DH when my time comes.

According to bump.com rules, today is my last day in 2nd tri.
6.gif
Other place put me moving over anywhere from today through Tuesday. Holy cow!

I just had my glucose test as well as a Dr''s appointment (glucose was done at the lab). The drink was not that bad. Just tasted like flat orange pop. It''s not something I''d choose to drink, but it didn''t make me gag or anything. It definitely made me feel really weird though and my Dr. said that''s a good sign that my sugar''s never actually been that high before. Hopefully I''ll know the results by the end of the day tomorrow, but they said it could take up to 48 hours so it might not be until Monday. I just really hope I pass because I HATE getting blood drawn! I will definitely be freaking out about it if I have to go have it drawn 4 more times in one day. The lady I had today kind of sucked too. It definitely hurt when she put the needle in and took it out.

I really wasn''t looking forward to this appointment for a few reasons. I''d been planning on breaking up with my OB to switch to the midwife group and I also really wasn''t looking forward to getting weighed since it was looking like I was going to overshoot the recommended weight gain range.

My weight gain slowed down a lot this month and I''m back on track to staying in range! It''ll probably be the very upper limit, but still in the range!! I know the range doesn''t really matter if mother and baby are healthy, but I just have this stigma in my head about not being where I''m supposed to be and feeling crappy about it.

My Dr. also spent a lot of time talking to DH and I about how there really wouldn''t be much difference between how the delivery will be handled whether we stay with our current group or switch to the midwives (she''s familiar with the group). She said they''re a great group, but the only real difference is going to be that I''ll have to get an IV port whether I need an IV or not. One of the doula groups that we''d looked into (not the one we''re booking with though) had really freaked us out. They wouldn''t say anything bad about our specific group, but kind of implied that they wouldn''t allow things like intermittent monitoring or even the continuous monitoring that allows you to get out of the bed. They apparently had no idea what they were talking about. Our doc is completely ok with intermittent monitoring as well as use of the birthing balls, showers, labor tubs, birthing bar and delayed cord cutting. The OB also brought up a good point that while care with the midwives would be great if everything went well, if something should happen and I needed a c-section, I''d be with a complete stranger. I think giving in on the IV port to avoid being worried about that is a pretty good trade off.

Anyway, yay to a good start to my last(ish) day in 2nd tri!

Robbie- Glad to hear your appt went well, and I can't believe you're already going into the third tri!! Just like you said to Courtney, I totally remember your post that you got a BFP! I was a lurker then, but definitely remember. Congrats!

So I need help from you guys. I fell in love with a nightlight at TJMaxx last weekend and now I'm trying to find the bedding set to go with it. Well, I found it on Ebay (I guess it's discontinued), but all the listings say 'Boy' bedding set. I'm going to try to post a pic, but I always have a hard time getting them sized right. Anyway, it's the Argyle collection by Wendy Bellissimo. I think it could be gender-neutral, don't you? Especially after seeing Tacori's and Lindsey's beautiful (blue) nurseries. We're painting the walls a really neutral cappucino color with white crown molding and chair rails. Whatchathink?
ETA: Ha- just realized that the walls/molding in the pic are exactly the colors we'd been planning!

Peony - OMG... what a shock! Congratulations twice over!

I never quite know what to say to people finding out that they''ve got twins or more on the way. It must be such a mix of joy and WTF, how the hell do I cope with this! My first u/s I made them double-check just in case.
9.gif

Courtney - I can''t believe that you are 36 weeks. I remember when you announced 17 weeks and it seems like yesterday. Good luck with the appointment.

Blen - too funny about the April Fool''s (I couldn''t do one as DH''s company banned them all from coming to work as they were on the target list for the G20 protestors so he was here all day). DH and I are opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to squeamishness - I can sit and eat dinner in front of any programme on nasty diseases or operations, he feels queasy at the thought of anything involving hospitals or bodily fluids. He asked me what an episiotomy was the other day - I said he wouldn''t want to know - and nearly crashed the car by the time I''d got halfway through the explanation! I don''t think I would dare chase him round the house with bits of mucous plug!
9.gif

Just got back from the midwife at the hospital. I seem to be seeing the same one most of the time which is nice. She''s Australian and we have quite similar ideas on things which has made life easy.

Baby is measuring exactly for dates, head down but not engaged, heart-beat now 135bpm and everything normal. They don''t think she''ll turn now and I should get an idea of her weight at the u/s on the 14th April.

I weighed myself yesterday (hadn''t done so for a few weeks) and found that I''ve now put on 20kg - about 44lbs - so I asked if this was a problem as a 3kg gain in a few weeks seemed like a lot. The m/w said that I wasn''t carrying any excess and was in proportion so it was probably just the baby having a growth spurt plus the increased blood-volume combined with my being tall and a bit underweight to start off with. There was no glucose in the urine test so no worries about GD or anything like that.

I confessed to my obsession with smelling mothballs and coal tar shampoo (I had to make DH hide them as it was getting too hard to resist) and asked if my iron levels had come back low - yup, down to 8.1 ng/ml so I''m now on 3 x 200mg iron tablets a day until after the birth. She thought the mothballs thing was very funny and apparently it should stop in a week or so. Big relief as it was starting to really drive me nuts, far worse than any food craving I''ve ever had.

Is anyone else having very weird or vivid dreams at the moment? I woke up on Sunday having dreamt that DH had been having an affair and had gone off on holiday with some girl for a week. I was so angry and ended up lying there half awake for an hour or so deciding whether I''d change the locks so he couldn''t get in when he got back, or whether I should turn up at the airport and catch them coming back, and rehearsing different speeches - the shocked and hurt/ the cold and aloof/ the mad angry crazy woman etc etc. In the end I woke DH up and had a go at him about it and what I would do if he ever did - he just laughed and said that I was obviously feeling very vulnerable at the moment, oh and was she cute??? He is the least likely person to ever do anything of this sort (too lazy and is always with me
3.gif
) and I never normally have these kinds of dream!

Later he put a thing on Facebook asking that if anyone had been having an affair with him in his wife''s dreams could they please call her to apologise. Grrrrrr!

The nesting phase seems to be kicking in a bit - I''ve been painting the nursery furniture (well, I''ve stuck some undercoat on so it''s no going back now!) and washing all the baby clothes.

It was so sweet the other night when DH came home from work. We don''t have a tumble drier at all so everything has to go on a drying rack. I''d bought special baby washing powder and conditioner that smells gorgeous and hung all the little babygros, socks etc out to dry in the sitting-room. DH came in and just melted over them all and how soon we''d have a little Daisy to put in them. He was really sad when they were dry and I was putting them away.
20.gif

I still find it odd because he has always been very ''not into kids'' and never goes gooey over other people''s babies, yet is now positively soppy over the idea of this one. I think I''m more excited to see him hold his daughter for the first time than anything else about the birth...

Also, I''ve heard some of you say that you have used coupons on Ebay- how do you get them?
I just get emailed them once in a while by Ebay. I had a 10% off one that I used when we bought the Bloom Highchair.

Might be worse googling for a discount code - I''ve had good results with that several times.

I ordered a new mattress for the Arm''s Reach mini co-sleeper as they don''t stock the official one''s in the UK. I got an organic wool and coconut coir one made to measure for $60 and then found a voucher that gave me an extra 10% off just through googling the company''s name and ''voucher''. Since the organic wool/coir mattresses normally retail for well over $150 I was really pleased. It arrived yesterday and the quality was excellent, it was a PERFECT fit and it had all the safety certs as well.

I don''t think the bedding set you posted is particularly masculine - anyway, blue is nice for girls too. If it was pink I''d have said it might be a bit, but it''s not as if it has tractors or anything on it!

Yay I passed my one hour
face23.gif
face23.gif

I have to admit that I''m totally in shock. Failing for my doctor is anything over 140. I came in at 127 which she says is normal. I asked if I should change my diet because I know that in some other offices anything over 130 is failing (in some cases anything over 120) but she said no. I''m going to change it anyway and do a modified version of the GD diet. But it was great to hear her say that I passed. I have to have more blood drawn at my next appointment because they couldn''t get a proper blood count. I know that she had a really hard time getting blood from me before. I kept having to squeeze my fists harder just to fill up one tube.

Robbie-Sounds like you had a good appointment. Congrats on getting to third tri! 13 weeks left
6.gif
6.gif

Pandora-Can you remind me how many weeks you are again? LOL @ the facebook message. That''s pretty funny. I''m not having any dreams lately (that I can remember anyway).

Natalina-I''m not a good person to ask about gender neutral stuff because I have it stuck in my head that blue = boy and pink = girl. My FI is the same way. Yesterday I showed him a picture of my friend''s daughter who had on a little blue dress. His first reaction was "why is she wearing blue?"

HAHAHHAHAAAAAA. I don't know what I was more "Moved" by, Blen and her Plug, or PEONY!!!!!!!!! AND HER TWINNERS!!!!!!!

OMG OMG OMG! I'm just so so so happy for you
36.gif
Especially after all the TTC'ness you went through - this is SUCH a great outcome.
9.gif

I second the idea to defer your schooling a year. Babies are only babies once!

Double Congrats Peony!

**

Pandora - I have really vivid dreams lately, but they are nonsensical. Yours was TOO funny!! haha. I love that your DH has a sense of humour about it. haha. That will come in handy when Daisy arrives.
5.gif

Glad to hear your appt went well. So they could tell she was head down just by feeling? My last appt with the middie resulted in a "mystery" position. gulp. I'm willing the baby to get head down (with my mind). Mela Copperfield what? Mela Blaine? Mela Angel! haha. Okay enough

Natalina - that bedding is lovely! I think it's "neutral" enough considering you throw in a few "pink" accessories like wall graphics or throw cushion on the chair and you'll be good to go. GO FOR IT!
36.gif
ETA2: my idea of gender neutral involved A LOT of pink, with a feminine floral print. HAHAHA. My poor "son" if thats what the baby is. Somehow, DH went along with it....

ETA: YEY fiery on passing the GT!

I gots nothing else to report. I know my company is going to throw me a baby shower this week....so I'm just 'waiting' for the surprise! haha. I only have 2 more weeks of work
31.gif
before I start my mat leave. I plan on "nesting" for real then. WHAHOO!!!!!!!

Pandora, I know...I can''t believe I''m 36 weeks either. You''re right behind me, so watch out! Your DH sounds just like mine in regards to being squeamish about these types of things. I told him about Blen and mucus plug and he said "Yeah, you know better than to do that." My dreams are outrageous and I''ve had a similar one like yours a couple of times. I love how your DH put that on Facebook...too funny. Again, sounds like something my DH would do!

I enjoy watching surgery on TV.
