Hi

well, the CAD''s for my 3 stone upgrade are in.

They look fantastic. Joe at WF has been excellent to work with and even though we worked on the phone accross many many miles he understood what I was after with this ring and really took this time to understand what I wanted.

Not having much experience with CADS''s I would love some more eagle eyes to look over them and see if there is anything that could be tweaked or stands out. It is good to have a fresh pair of eyes look at them.

For me I will see if we can lower the overall stones a bit more, they are sitting a bit high for my own personal taste, and I will wear it with a plain gold wedding band.

Thanks for looking

The proportions are .20 1 c .20 thanks

I think it looks beautiful, and you'd be surprise how low the stone will actually be once you get your ring. BTW I love the proportions!

and yellow gold to boot!

Oooh pretty!!!

Love the proportions! But then, I''m biased

It looks very nice - I have a couple of questions as I''m intrigued by a three stone with a six prong center stone.

Will the band sit flush with this ring - and is it designed to do that? How thick is the shank of the ring?

I really like the look of the ring - can''t wait to see it finished!

thanks for your kind replies. It is soooo nerve wracking going down the custome route, and the fear and excitement of opening those CAD shots - omg.

It is great (and re-asuring) to see some feedback, as in the end you begin to wonder if the design is OK, and if your musings havnt gone askew iykwim. Feel free to point out anything that might need to be tweaked, as this is why PS is so good, to get feedback from people who are really interested in jewellery. IRL there is noone aside from my DH to discuss this with.

MissGotRocks, the 6 prong center was a must for me for a lot of reasons and Yssies amazing 3 stone ring with 6 stone center was an inspiration for me and allowed me to see it was possible.

Her ring is divine, but for some reason trellis doesnt look good on my hand, so I worked with WF to change their trellis setting but keep the shape / flow of the trellis 4 prong baskets and the 6 prong center. I did nearly go with a 3 prong side, but my husband liked the 4 prong side and both are nice to my eye.

Joe said it will sit near flush with my plain YG wedding band. the band width is somehting I have to double check, but I think around 3 mm, will need to confirm that with Joe. I am thinking of lowering the center stone a bit, but again will need to talk to Joe about this and confirm the excact height.

It is similiar to my old e-ring, which was important to my DH and myself, but have been refreshed and has a lovely new center stone. The orignal center sonte has been made into a simple sliding bezel pendant by BGD.

D&T your help over the last few months in a number of threads has been wonderful and reassuring to a novice like myself, so thanks heaps, much appreciated - and as an aside love the avatar rings, wonderful.

thanks again and keep the comments comming, it is great to double check things before it gets made

Yssie, hope you see this, how wide was your band width?

and is it the same band as the WF trellis setting?

thanks

It looks very similar to my PrecisionSet three stone mounting. It is of course flush fit and I''m interested in something that would leave a small gap in between my ering and wedding band. I can see that the trellis has been left off - whenever I''ve tried on trellis settings I wasn''t crazy about them either. Is this six prong mounting more like say the Royal Crown by Vatche? It''s just very interesting to see the variations and I think your new ring will be lovely. I give you lots of credit for going custom - it really must be a nerve wracking thing but I think you are going to be very pleased!

Hi D2B

I went custom, so my band is a little different from the WF trellis (which I had originally). WF stock shank is 3.5mm wide. The most striking differences are that my prongs are a little thicker and "cup" the stones more tightly than the stock trellis. The prongs 'swoop' in between culet and finger in my new one too, so you can't see the culet from the underside - the culet is openly visible in the stock setting. I'll dig up some comparison pics and post in a minute.

My shank is 2.94 mm according to my lab calipers

. With the addition of the wb I'm wishing I'd gone a little thinner, though not enough to do anything about it.

Here we go, finally got it down to size

WF stock trellis L. (centre 1ct, sides 0.3ct), my current WF custom R. (centre 2ct, sides 0.3ct)

Stock L., custom R.

ETA: my wf stock was 18k wg, custom is plat. not sure if that accounts for some of the prong thickness differences..

hmm, thanks yssie, I see what you mean about your prongs cupping the stone, it is such a small detail, but such a nice one.

thanks for the comparison shots, great to tease out the details.
