Handforged will allow you to get to 1.8 mm and still have the durability you need. I don't recommend ANY CAD and CAST setting at a shank width below 2.0. But handforged is different. Stronger.

Any further views/advice?

Slightly worried about the setting I purchased now because I think its a split shank at 1.6mm each.

Its 900/100 Pt Ir in case it makes any difference. Non-refundable custom.

Many thank sin advance.

I've had split shank done by CAD/cast that thin and it isn't an issue because the length of the split isn't long and it has a fairly strong support on both ends. The main concern about thinness is the shank that goes around under the finger.
