Hi All!

I am getting ready to buy a diamond to propose to my girlfriend. Any advice is great!

My budget is about 15K for a ring.

I'm reading around that I can go H and SI1 for oval diamonds. I found a cple in my price range for about 2 carots. Any advice would be helpful!

Thank you!

hi
you best bet is to go to different websites and see what you can get for your budget keep in mind that you also need to leave $ for the setting
the ratio is very important in an oval so is the depth and table in order to get the most brilliance

diamondsman - Are you in the trade? The reason I ask is that you have a link at the bottom of the page.

How much do you have set aside for the setting?

I'll say about $1500 for setting (plain metal) which leaves $13500 for stone. Here is what you can
get from JA. I stayed over 9mm. This one is my favorite

I like this one too

You might want to call Yuketiel at ID Jewelry if you want to get closer to 2 carats. Keep an eye on
the mm because a 2 carat can be smaller than a 1.9 depending on the cut.

Only one I could find (decent) at JA 2 carats is this one. It is a 4 main which isnt my taste but...it's not for
me.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I've set aside about 1500 for the band, most likely diamonds around a platinum band. i was thinking maybe increasing my budget to 16000 to get a better ring. i just dont want to get something that she wont be happy with.

im not i think thats just an ad!

OP, pay attention to what Tyty suggests. She is the oval goddess in my books here on PS.

The G SI1 she linked to is my pick if the two however it is now "Not Available" so I'm hoping that you have that one on hold!

willquan22 - The question wasn't for you, sorry for the confusion. This was directed to another poster and a post that has since been deleted.

Thanks bmfang...you're so very kind!

Will...I looked up to $14,500 at JA and Enchanted and nothing new came up.

Hmm, not noticing any distinct bow tie effect on that new one you found will. Looks good to my eyes (but keep in mind that I tend to look mainly at rounds so take what I say with a grain of salt!). :)
